Instructions

  1. Head: in taupe 1) ch 2. 6sc in the first chain (6) 2) inc around (12) 3) *inc, 1sc* around (18) 4) *inc, 2sc* around (24) 5) *inc, 3sc* around (30) Rows 6-10) 1sc in each stitch (30) 11) *sc dec, 2sc* around (24) 12) *sc dec, 2sc* around (18) 13) *sc dec, 1sc* around (12) Stuff firmly. 14) sc dec around. Sl st to finish and FO. Weave in the end.

  2. Body: in white 1) ch 2. 6sc in the first chain (6) 2) inc around (12) 3) *inc, 1sc* around (18) Rows 4-11) 1sc in each stitch (18) Stuff. 12) *1sc, sc dec* around (12) Sl st to finish and FO. Leave a tail for sewing

  3. Ear: (make 2) in soft taupe 1) ch 2. 5sc in the first chain (5) 2) inc around (10) Rows 3-4) 1sc in each stitch (10) Sl st to finish and FO. Leave a tail for sewing

  4. Arm: (make 2) in white 1) ch 2. 6sc in the first chain (6) 2) *inc, 1sc in next 2 stitches* x2 (8) 3) 1 sc in each stitch (8) 4) In back loops only: 1 sc in each stitch (8) 5) *sc dec, 1sc in the next 2 stitches* x2 (6) Rows 6-7) 1sc in each stitch.   6. Small Front Pack: in white 1) ch 5. In the second ch from the hook, 1sc in each ch across (4) Rows 2-5) 1 sc in each stitch. Ch 1 to turn. FO and leave a tail for sewing. Back Pack: (make 2) in white 1) ch 7. In the second ch from the hook, 1sc in each ch across (6) Rows 2-8) 1 sc in each stitch. Ch 1 to turn. FO and leave a tail for sewing. Long Side Strap: (make 2) in white 1) ch 8 2) in the second ch from the hook, 1sc in each ch. FO and weave in the ends. Side Strap: (make 2) in white 1) ch 6 2) In the second ch from the hook, 1sc in each ch. FO and weave in the ends. The Back Pack, Long side straps, and side straps need to be sewn together to make a backpack. Remember to stuff the backpack, but not firmly. Tubing: in grey 1) ch 15. FO and leave a tail for sewing

    Helmet: in white 1) ch 2. 6sc in the first chain (6) 2) inc around (12) 3) *inc, 1sc* around (18) 4) *inc, 2sc* around (24) 5) *inc, 3sc* around (30) 6) *inc, 4sc* around (36) Rows 7-9) 1sc in each stitch (36) Now working in rows: 10) ch 1, turn. 1sc in the next 24 stitches (24) Rows 11-13) 1 sc in each stitch, ch 1 to turn (24) 14) *1sc in next 4 stitches, sc dec* x3. 1sc in next 2 stitches, sc dec, 1 sc in next 2 stitches (20) 15) *1sc in next 2 stitches, sc dec* x4. 1sc, sc dec, 1sc (15) 16) 1sc in each stitch (15) Take a long strand of grey yarn and whip stitch around the border of the helmet.

    Sew the ears onto the head, and the head onto the body. Sew eyes, nose and a mouth with black acrylic yarn. Sew one end of the tubing onto the back of the backpack. I used an embroidery needle and white thread for this job. Sew the finished Backpack on the back of the bear. Sew the royal blue yarn on Chris’ arms and legs through the back loop stitches. Those stitches should be raised and visible making it easier to sew. Embroider a Canadian flag on Chris’ left arm. Now sew the arms and legs to the body.

  9. Fold the Small Front pack in half (long ways). Sew black markings on the Small Front Pack. Sew the other end of the grey tubing beside the black markings. Sew it onto the front of bears' body.
