I've always loved making desserts and any British citizen will know how delicous crumble is. This is an easy recipe for plum crumble. Traditionally served with custard try it with vanilla ice cream in summer. This serves one, increase the quantities as needed, and I cook without measurements so I can't guarantee accuracy. I'll add pictures soon

Instructions

  1. Firstly chop up your plums. You may think 5 is a bit much for one crumble but I had tiny plums, two or maybe three medium to large sized ones would be better. I find that it doesn't really matter whether you cook the plums or not, or peel them for that matter. I sliced mine.

  2. Now that your plums are chopped place them in a small bowl, add a tablespoon of icing sugar (confectioners sugar) and mix around, now add a teaspoon of flour. This creates a delicious sauce when it cooks :)

  3. Prepare your crumble. Place the flour and butter in a bowl, mix together til it resembles breadcrumbs, just like you would for pastry. Then add in your sugar and oats. The oats are optional but I like them. You could also use chopped nuts.

  4. Take a small ovenproof dish. I used a mini casserole dish that we've had for ages and lay the plums on the bottom. They should come up around two thirds of the way. Top it off with the plum crumble but don't pack way too much crumble in as it can get a little stodgy, but not too little either. Heat up the oven to 200 degrees celsius. Sorry, don't know the farenheit and bake for about twenty minutes or until the crumble is lightly golden.

  5. Take you delicous crumble out of the oven and scoop it into a bowl, be careful as it will be syrupy inside and scalding hot. If it's winter pair it with custard, if it's summer with vanilla ice cream. It's great on it's own too. Enjoy :)
