• 

  Step 1

  Gut an old book by cutting the inside page block out carefully. Try to not cut through the binding of the book, keeping it in tact.

• 

  Step 2

  Reinforce the binding with duct tape.

• 

  Step 3

  Using an Exacto knife and a metal ruler, cut a slit near the top of the binding area, going not quite all the way across. Do the same near the bottom.

• 

  Step 4

  For each signature you want to include in your book run a piece of string or embroidery thread from the top slit, around the spine of the book and out through the bottom slit.

• 

  Step 5

  Tie them in a knot on the outside of your book.

• 

  Step 6

  Use scrapbook papers, maps, wallpaper samples, book pages, etc. for the inside pages of your book.
