Why: One day I decided I wanted a vanity to sit at and do my make up in my room cause sharing a house with three other woman was insane when we were already to go out with only two bathrooms. Problem... I have no space for such a thing I just couldn't put another thing in my room. Solution I have wall space! I also found it super easy to push everything in a basket after I was done and put it in the bathroom till next time. Prebuild: Make sure it's okay! I live in a rented house so I had to make sure that everything I got could be easily removed. You should do the same if your renting! Compare Prices! You want the best deal for this project! So take your time to find the pieces for it other wise you could be spending an arm and a leg. 1. Use coupons! ( I got my main mirror 50% off at joanns with a coupon you can print offline ) 2. Use the dollar tree! ( They always have random size mirrors. One time I even saw mirror peel and stick sheets that you could shape on your own ) 3. Yard sale and goodwill! A preframed mirror will work too! 4. Borrow the tools you don't have. Measure Measure Measure! Once you find where you want to place your vanity you need to make all the proper measurements. 1. Level line to follow when placing your vanity. Keep in mind this can be made at a standing or sitting height so you'll have to decide which you want to do. 2. Mark all your holes! You'll be anchoring before actually drilling in the hinges so make sure to test everything on the wall to ensure that everything has folding room and lays flat when open. I suggest putting the surface up first then installing the rest. 3. Mark Where you want your mirrors placed in relation to your vanity. This is where I messed up I put the mirrors up first and the surface ended up being a little further right then the center mirror I could live with it so I didn't move any but it is a little bothersome when I look at it from a distance. - -; Supplies! 1. My hinges came from Lowes. 2. My screws and anchors came from Walmart. 3. The boards I used were extra pieces that came with one of the shelves I got at Walmart but you could pick up the pieces from a hardware or lumber store even some craft stores carry small wood boards.

Cut your rest boards! Take your 12.5 x 12.5 x 1 board and cut it in half diagonally Sorry I don't have a photo of this so crappy art. 1.5 Decorate your boards! Before you do anything else decide how you want these done and let them dry completely before starting.
Drill your hinges into your boards. This can be done with the screws that come with the hinge set. I choose cabinet hinges for the surface piece because it allowed it space when closed so it laid flat over the rest boards two for it. The regular hinges are for the rest one for each. MAKE SURE YOU ARE DRILLING THE HINGES IN THE CORRECT WAY TO ENSURE THAT YOUR BOARDS MOVE THE RIGHT DIRECTION! WARNING: The cabinet hinges have a snap to them make sure to handle with care so that you do not pinch your fingers.
Drill and set your anchors into your premarked lines. The picture I have shows the anchors already in but you can also see a bunch of other holes this is from the first time I put it up with the screws that came with the hinges. bad idea with drywall lesson learned use anchors for everything! lol As I suggested earlier you can put up your surface board first then use that to base where your rest boards should go.
Using the screws that came with your anchors set the free side of your hinges into the wall by drilling them into the anchors. The pictures I have up show me putting in the rest boards first but I already had my vanity up once before it fell out from me not having my screws anchored, that and I really think they were to short.
Now that your vanity is assembled test it a few times to ensure that it works properly if not adjust as necessary.
Make sure your initial marking for your mirrors are still viable if not clean them off and remark. 6.5 Put up your mirrors up if they are not self adhesive use your mounting tape.
Now take your extra decorations and place them up around your mirrors and your done! My letters "Wicked Queen" were made on my cricut with a font from dafont.com and a program called "sure cuts a lot! 2" You can use a stencil and exacto knife or stickers to achieve the same effect using something other than words might be cute too I'm considering adding faeries that are sitting on the smaller circles. Either way anything that is not self adhesive can be put up with elmers glue you don't have to use a huge amount a dot or two in the center should do it.
