The trial piece, made following the instructions on Spool Sewing's site, and using regular fabric. Stitched by hand. The tail is too fat on this one...on my final spool bird I used a shaped piece of leather for the tail, no stuffing at all. Came out nice and flat, and it gave the bird a nice weight on that end.
