RND 1: With cornmeal, make a magic ring of 8 sc, or ch 2 and work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hk, join with sl st to first sc. RND 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc throughout), 1 hdc in same st as joining, 2 hdc in next sc and in each sc around, join with sl st in top of ch 2. (16 hdc) RND 3: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as joining, *1 hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next, rep from* around, join. (24 hdc) RND 4: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as joining, *1 hdc in next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, rep from* around, join. (32 hdc) Fasten off cornmeal, attach white. RND 5: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as joining, *1 hdc in next 3 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, rep from* around, join. (40 hdc) RND 6: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as joining, * 1 hdc in next 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, rep from* around, join. (48 hdc) Fasten off white, attach black. When I watched the Swedish olympic team (last winter) enter the event, I went nuts over this hat! It was crocheted and not knitted, like the other team hats. So...I had to have one. I worked a while and eventually came up with this version of my own.
What I really liked about these hats is that they actually did have that "slouchy" part in the back. The whole team was just spectacular when they walked out onto the floor! These colors together are so beautiful too!
