You Will Need (6 things)
- Thread
- Straight Pins
- Fabric Scissors
- Fabric
- 1 vintage Scarf
- Sewing Machine
Steps (10 steps, 60 minutes)
-
1
Start with a vintage square scarf and a contrasting fabric cut into two long pieces.
-
2
Mark the center of the first piece of fabric and the center of where you want the top of your apron to be. Pin the two sections together.
-
3
Pin your waist band along your apron, pinning pleats into your apron as you go.
-
4
Pin and sew all the way down.
-
5
Flip your band over and pin and sew down. Make it fun and use a contrasting thread!
-
6
Pin and sew the ends in.
-
7
You can be done right now if you want, but I am adding a ruffle to the bottom of mine. Pin and sew a hem into your second piece of fabric. I used a zig-zag stitch so it would be a little more decorative.
-
8
Next set your machine to a long stitch length and a the highest tension setting and make a gathering stitch.
-
9
Pin and sew your ruffle to the bottom of your apron.

You can be done now or be more creative, add a pocket, add decorative stitches to your waist band. Have fun with it!
