About

I hate it when I outgrow a top and its either too short or too tight to look the part... so I recycle it. I usually make them into tee dresses for my daughter. Sorry for the lack of pix during the how to process but I made this a while ago #)

You Will Need (12 things)

  • Sponge Brush
  • Fabric Paint
  • Glass Cutting Board
  • Craft Knife
  • Duraseal/ Contact Paper
  • Thread
  • Sewing Machine
  • Too Small T Shirt
  • Hair Dryer
  • Iron
  • A4 Cardboard
  • Fabric Scissors

Steps (9 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

So you've got a tee thats too small for you, not to worry!!! Just measure up your mini-me or just get one of their tees as a size guide for the arm holes.

  2. 2

Sew the arm holes smaller and maybe take a tiny bit off the sides, not too much as you want it a bit baggy.

  3. 3

Trim a wide band off the bottom or your tee and sew it into a tube that will fit around the butt of the mini-me.

  4. 4

Kind of gather the edge of the tee so it fits into the band and sew together. Thats the tee dress done.

  5. 5

For the '13' draw a number 13 on the contact paper and cut it out with a craft knife creating a stencil. Peel off the backing and stick onto the back of the tee dress. Put your cardboard in the tee dress to prevent any paint bleeding through.

  6. 6

Using the sponge brush and fabric paint, dab the paint into the gaps of the stencil, when covered, dry with the hair dryer.

  7. 7

Apply another coat to fill in any spots you may have missed and dry with the hair dryer. Now carefully peel the contact paper off and give it another blast with the hair dryer.

  8. 8

Turn the tee dress inside out and put the card in the tee dress again. Iron directly on the wrong side of the stencil for about 1-2 minutes, the fumes are normal. This process heat sets the paint so it doesn't wash out.

  9. 9

Let your mini-me wear it now :) Looks great with leggings...
