These are super easy and save money! not to mention great for that backpack of yours,it needs more buttons!!

Instructions

  1. Small cutoutandkeep 042

Get together your soda tab, bottle cap, Safety pin, and design for your button (I'm using a cherry blossom tree cut out from a music magazine)

  2. Small cutoutandkeep 045

Put a thin layer of glue on the back of the piece of paper c:

  3. Small cutoutandkeep 048

You should have something that looks like this!

  4. Small cutoutandkeep 046

Set that aside and grab your safety pin and soda tab. c:

  5. Small cutoutandkeep 047

This isn't the best picture, but you should open your safety pin and put the soda tab smooth face up.Put the safety pin through one hole of the soda tab and under the middle bit, and bring the head of the safety pin up through the remaining hole. Close the safety pin and set it aside.

  6. Small cutoutandkeep 049

Go ahead and cut the excess paper around the bottle cap c:

  7. Small cutoutandkeep 050

Place the safety pin attached to the soda tab inside of the bottle cap like so

  8. Small cutoutandkeep 053

Take your pliers, and fold down the edges all around your bottle cap. This part isn't the most fun if you've got bassist hands like I do. But bare with me haha. This basically keeps the soda tab snug and secure c:

Once you flip it over, you see that you've now got a new button for your collection! c:

  10. Small cutoutandkeep 057

This bit is optional, but you can prop up your pin to add shine to it by adding a thin layer of Dimensional Magic, this stuff it amazing, just let it dry for 2-3 hours c: It's also very forgiving, because if you accidentally touch it, you can just add a few more drops on top and it looks brand new!

Here's a closer look at one of my favorite DIY buttons that I've made. It shows Jimi Hendrix and I saved $5 by making this myself! I'm in love! c:
