Well, it's supposed to be a surprise, but if your partner agrees sure, why not? ^___^

Hmmm.
I wouldn't want to know what was coming, then you'd have time to plan what you were going to do. I'd much rather it was a surprise & I could be inspired when I opened it.

I was just thinking, in case the maker couldn't use it.

Hmmm, that's something I hadn't really thought of.

Well, I think you can easily fix that... if you're sending something you're afraid your partner won't be able to use, just send together something really basic and generic, like thread, buttons, paper, stickers, fabric... that way you're sure she will be able to use at least one of the things you sent her ^____^

So, for example, if you're sending fimo and you're not 100% sure your partner knows how to use it, send a smaller amount of it and add something she can use more easily.

Then again, almost all of us have written on our profile what we like/can do, so we should be fine ^____^°°°

I'm really excited too!

I can't wait to see what I get to work with!

I guess I should add I can't crochet or knit! Someday I'll learn but probably not soon XD

Ach, life's too short to be knitting anyhow....
(I'm just glad we've got a mum/gran who's willing & able...lol)

I DID buy a "Kooky Crochet" book, and told my BFF that we were gonna learn to crochet. She eventually stopped laughung and poured me another glass of wine Happy

Ooo this sounds like fun! I shouldn't be swapping I should be sorting my life out, but this sounds like such a little swap. Can't hurt surely.

CO+K name: Libby W.
Country: UK
Will ship internationally?: UK or Europe preferably

I can just about crochet, I'm not great at it (haven't had enough practice and not me ages to figure out UK and US terms were different). I am a doom embroiderer and beader though.

Don't panic Bindibabe! There are loads of converters online. I use this one.

There might be one already in your book. I have to convert pretty much all the patterns I get off here and ravellry. I was getting super confused about yarn widths though, until I realised that these are also different between the UK and US. Just found a great UK crochet magazine called inside crochet. Gonna try some patterns from that for practice.

i have another question, what if we dont use everything we are sent it if i send a metre of fabric, but my partner only uses a quater or a third of that,do they keep the rest or send it back?

Well, as a general rule I'd say we're not forced to use all of the stash our partner sends us - although it might be funny to give it a try - and, as it's just a few buck's worth of stash anyway, we get to keep everything our partner sends to us and we don't use. Sending back would mean add to the shipping costs, and I think it's better to avoid that. Plus, we're adding to the stash ourselves to complete the item, so we're kind of making up for it, I think.

In your example, Nikki, if I were your partner I'd use as much fabric as I'd need for my project, adding buttons, thread, other fabrics, paper, beads or anything I deem necessary, and then I'd keep the rest of the fabric you sent me and I'd send back the completed item.

Does this make sense to you?

If you're sent wool/yarn/whatever you're not limited to knitting or crocheting with it - see it as a challenge and dig into your imagination (I know mine is quite shallow but I'm sure I could come up with something!)

Well said Julie G!
I've got 101 uses for them and then some!!

P.S. Don't anyone dare send me knitting needles to go with said yarn - all that'll get you is a poke in the eye!! ;D

Actually, I can think of a load of uses for the needles too, and not one of them involves casting on so much as a single stitch. ;P
