I'm sorry Teensy, but I do really think you should join another swap before hosting your own.

You're right, everybody here is free to come and propose any swap they want at any time and there are no rules, but I, for one, don't feel comfortable joining a swap hosted by someone who has no experience whatsoever with swaps.

I don't mean to be rude, I'm just saying swapping isn't as easy as it seems, and hosting a swap is even more difficult to do. You need a little experience first, and there are many ways this can be acquired. I.e., you could ask for a private swap on the Swap Request thread, join the Newbie/Vet swap or one of the many ongoing swaps, like postcards, happygrams or ATCs.

I personally suggest to join both the newbie/vet swap and the happygrams one. Happygrams are easy to make and awesome to receive, you can send out as many as you like, you get to know a lot of people and what's more you learn how to focus on their preferences to make something you're sure they'll enjoy.

Again, I absolutely don't mean to be rude so don't take this personally, but sometimes making "something that is beautiful to you" isn't enough. To me, swapping means making something that will be beautiful to the person receiving the swap, even if I don't like it or it isn't something that fits my tastes.

Swapping is all about proving to yourself you're able to make another person happy. It isn't easy, and that's why you need not to rush. IMHO, of course.

Oh thats cool (I am sorry that if it sounds like i have never done any swaps because I have done quit a few,And the only reason that i wanted to do this swap were you make things that are beautiful to you is because i want to get to now some of my friends on CO+K, just as I would like some of my friends to get to know me, Its totally cool and I really do understand and dont take this or anything else that anyone would have to say as rude because your being honest and your only trying to help, So Befor we go on if everyone thinks that I should just shut this down and maybe come back to it in another year or so, Then please let me know now so i can go and get signed up for another swap And agian I am not offended I really do appreciate all the input 8)

Mary, Teensy has (as she said) done several swaps, already, beginning around a year ago. I don't see anything really wrong with her setup here, she just has a hard time wording things, and I know this from personal experience. She's one of my best friends in real life. The reason it comes off to you as inexperienced is because she's very shy, and wants to be as congenial as possible, leaving options open to everyone who joins, for fear of hurting anyone's feelings/alienating anyone. You don't have to join this swap. It seems like others are interested in it, so you shouldn't cut her down and tell her to shut down this swap. She's posted a few swap startups over time, and because of how shy she is, no one has even noticed them. The fact that people have commented on this one is very important to her. Please try to think of it as if she's fragile, because when you're aggressive with her, it hurts her feelings.
This kind of negativity and rudeness is why I quit coming over to this website, but she asked me to look this thread over, so I did. And if the rest of you aren't interested, I know of another place she can host her swap, and no one will be rude to her, or tell her she's not ready to host a swap.

I am the one who started the whole newbie and vet swap, and I can personally vouche that she has done that swap and a few others. I have not come to this site that often since I found the enviroment here is very different from when I first joined. I understand things could be mis read since people can not really hear someone's tone but sense something uncool about what is being said here.

I ran several swaps and a veteran at it and I dont see anything wrong with the way she sat up her swap requirements.

Teensy huns, like Sparrow says we have our own swap site made that you are more than welcome to join and set up with reliable, fun loving and quirky humans.

Aw I just want to say that I think Mary was genuinely trying not to be rude and that it may have come across that way because you can't physically hear her.

I still think this is a cool idea.. and thankful Teensy took the time to share it with us.

Please don't give up on all of us though! I promise most of us here are reliable, fun and loving people! >.<

Hi everybody, I took some time to really think about it and of corse if there are still pepole who would like to do this swap then i really would like to do it, I will be sending a message to everyones account with CO+K so that i can find out for sure, but if no one wants to, then I am going to go on ahead and turn this swap off. I can also personally voucher for Tanis, we did a three way swap between myself, Tanis and Magic Sprinkles. She is an awesome swap partner, before anyone critiscises!! She's done many swaps before and as Sugarlishes said, she's done the Newbie vs Vet swap before.

Everyone has to start somewhere with HOSTING a swap. I've only ever hosted one swap before that wasn't as popular as I thought it would be, but no-one should be judged for being a newbie host... so please get your facts right before judge someone.

This isn't meant to be rude, I'm just personally vouching for Tanis as an amazing swapper and an amazing human being!!

I'm also sorry that people left with website because they weren't feeling welcome anymore. I'm enjoying my swaps here, so I'll stick around for now.

My English is not that good so it's really difficult for me to understand what Pirate Teensy writes. It is clear that I have misunderstood something. I just wanted to help, but it looks like I only have messed things up. I'm sorry, I apologise, and I won't be writing on this thread again.

i like the idea of this swap. i am just concerned about taking the time to make something for someone else and it ends up at a thrift store/dumpster because they didn't like it. for me knowing something about the other person makes a difference in the swap.

it takes me a long time to make one hand sewn item. even the matchbox swap has taken me longer than i thought it would! couldn't get that little thing to fit together for the life of me LOL. So to have it be tossed, would be a shame.

additionally, i don't want to receive a steam punk hello kitty, when neither of those things appeal to me. so while i like the set up of their being a 3 month swap with multiple items being given...i would have to decline. i just can't spend the time, effort and love on handsewn items that i like... but someone else doesn't.
