Pen Pals? (for our kids)

Let me preface by saying, I know this is not a swap...but it was inspired by Laurel's Happygrams thread, and would involve signing up, getting a partner, mailing and receiving things.

Recently, I started helping my 3 year old daughter write letters to her cousins, one who lives out of state, the other we only get to see every once in a while. I can't seem to get their moms/my sisters to send letters back, and that makes me sad. Sofi always gets excited when I get a swap package, and ends up picking out things for herself to keep. I'd really like to find another mom with a child who'd be interested in writing letters back and forth continually with her. I thought it would be fun for many of your children, if we started this like a club or something(that sounded silly ^-^), so everyone would get partners. Kind of like the Happygrams program, but for our little ones. I especially thought it would be fun because we're all spaced out across different continents and all that...

Or maybe even start a Junior swapping thing...because I know a bunch of us addicted Swappers have kids, and it would be really cool if they could make, say one small item...something simple, and send them to a partner. I'm inspired here, by the little craft kits you get at Wal-mart and Hobby Lobby, with several items inside to make. Sofi, her cousin Alyssa, and I made cuff bracelets using a kit like that, last night. Very simple, but fun, and especially cool to give to friends. She's interested in learning to sew(I bought her 2 plastic tapestry needles for her birthday), and loves to help me stuff felt toys.
Can't wait to see if anyone bites...this could be very fun!

That's an awesome idea. I don't have any kids, though. I just wanted to express my liking. Tongue

I don't have any kids either but when I was a kid I used to love having penpals. Getting a letter with a foreign stamp on it was super exciting (actually it still is lol)=)

talked with my 12 y/o girl last night and she said she's be willing to write to either kids her age or younger (she loves her 4 y/o cousin and would be willing to write to a little one)

Awesome! I'm so glad this was so well received! I think it would be a good plan to do it like the Newbie swap, where people just pair up according to relevance, like Melissa and Kokatie. If we get one more, we can partner up the rest of us, unless Sug would want to split her girls, and have a partner for each of them?

split them up lol...one must do what the other one does at all times...so I can always have it where Emma Helps Lillian, and Lillian helps Emma with her partner...but for now we can not send anything big, mainly drawings and cards for now since momma's budget is looking kinda sad. lol

Cool, Kait actually asked if she got partnered up with antone when I got her home last night (surprising for her usually I dont much out of her besides grumpiness!!!!)

We have an even # now if we keep the 7y/o and 3y/o together! ;)

What a great idea Sparrowfae!
