Dinosaur hat help?

I'm trying to make a dinosaur beanie. I found an easy enough tutorial that I can adapt, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to make the spines stand up, like on a stegosaurus (Kinda like this http://www.morehousefarm.com/KnittingKits/Hats/2/Dino.jpg but mine isn't knit). I thought about using wire somehow, but I thought that might make it flop to one side. Suggestions?Happy

On the hats that you've linked to, it looks like the spines are made out of two pieces of felt, topstitched together. Maybe you could try that? If you get really thick felt it should be stiff enough to stand up on its own.
Don't know how washable it would be though...

you could always cut very small pieces of plastic to sew in between the felt - or go a bit overboard with a glue gun in between the two pieces to make it hard & stick up..yet..i dunno how washable Tongue

good luck :3

what about using a stiff interfacing? they do sew on or iron on ones and that should keep it standing up. it's pretty cheap where i get it from too and you wouldn't need loads for the spines. x
