Present for boyfriend & his mom?

It's mothers day very very soon & It's also my boyfriend's birthday the week after.

We've been dating for over a year, and I've made him crafts from shells & sand we've collected from beaches, I made him a framed collage of our pictures, I've made him a printed shirt, a felt plushie
All very cheesy, he's not incredibly cheesy lol

I'm at a loss for what to make him that he'd really appreciate for his birthday coming up.
He's a professional Media Designer, a professional dancer jazz, hip hop & so on. He loves Mangoes & works from home. Has no particular favorite color since he's color blind.

As for his mom - I don't know her very well, she doesnt particularly love chocolate, she's a bit soft spoken, also not particularly sentimental. I've gotten her flowers, a teddy bear with soap & perfume.
I'm also at a loss Tongue

If you have any ideas - I would greatly appreciate it Happy

Happy Crafting

Some man jewellery using leather or hemp cord and wood beads using simple knotting techniques, its very personal and not cheesy lol in my opinion, I dont think the other things were cheesy anyway, my fiancee is always askig for me to make him things.

I made my mother in law a purple pearl and crystal necklace so something simple but sophisticated is usally good, or a little gift basket with little pretty things.

I never know what to make for guys, 'cause I just like to make cute, impractical things for the most part. Maybe like, a hand bound journal or something. I just bought this book (How To Make Books) with a cool project for making one out of fabric. Seems like a lot of work, though.

For my mom (whose birthday and mother's day are almost the same day) I made her felt covered barrettes (which she loves), then put them on some cute handmade packaging. I was also planning on making her a button clock, but my grandpa just died and he was like, in love with clocks, so we have like a million now, so it'd just take up space. It's from a really cute tutorial, though, if you think she'd want one! http://epherielldesigns.com/tuesday-tute-my-button-clock

Clocks are really fun to make, though. You can make like, so many things into one. I've even seen someone take one apart and cross stitch video game sprites for some of the numbers, then little dots for all the other ones. I think I might have it bookmarked... and I don't, but I googled it: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=312660.0
Good boy-craft, I guess.

I always fail at making things for guys.
As for his mom, I would go for something she can use, but make it cute. That way, she thinks of how practical you can be and how nice you are- two very important thigs for a daughter-in-law.
Maybe a car accessory or a cozy she can put her phone in. Things I wouldn't get are things that just lay around the house. A good home-cooked meal is always a winner!
Best of luck!

CraftyGeek - Thank you! those are great ideas! Maybe I can make him a bracelet with shells we've collected. I think I might try to make his mom a keyring! :3 and lol - man jewelry .. i love that

CarrotsArentReal - I love the dino hoodie! I don't think he would wear it, but heck..I would! XD I was looking at the plastic spoon rose necklace too! I love that tutorial! Thank you :3

Emily W. That's a fantastic idea O_O I'm gonna keep the clock idea in my pocked for her birthday so I have time enough to round up pretty supplies for it Happy Also I totally agree...I wind up making really cutesy things that don't have a function..they're just pretty to look at or to wear for ladies Tongue

Ariel B. lol I'm horrible at anything craft for boys..I usually just give them food.. I like the idea for a cellphone case. Maybe I can make a nice one out of felt with some small chiffon flowers :]

Thanks everybody! Bahahaha now I have a lot of ideas to choose from. I love the people on this site ^___^ <3
Happy Crafting always!

I usually make my fiancé's mother some jewellery when I give her a gift.

And how about making your boyfriend a shirt with something to do with hip-hop? You can stencil the design on it and make it completely unique =]
