Desk Cover Solutions?

I work in a library and I really want to get away from the boring gray desk of mine! I am looking for a way to cover the top of my desk, that will be easy to remove and super adorable.

Anyone have any ideas?

I was thinking about just making a collage and laminating it, but I really want something more substantial, but also inexpensive.

You could also get a slab of plexi glass, around here I could find it in a referb/recycle shop or at Lowes for relativly cheap. Use either window paint or markers to color the optosite side, you can tape things like pictures and often used notes on the lower side and it'll give it a pretty look. It'll protect the art and the desk itself.

You could always make a sort of place mat that you can roll up to transport easier. My fiance and I play MTG, and he bought two play mats to protect our cards at tournaments.

The bottom is a soft, textured foam that grips onto the surface, and the top is a piece of fabric with an image on it... probably not all too hard to make one by hand.
