Spray paint?

Would normal spray paint work on a T-shirt or should I try and find fabric spray paint?

Like would it wash out or something?

any spray paint that i've gotten on my clothes by accident has never come out.. so I think spray paint would work just fine.

I've used spray paint to color fabrics instead of the fabric dye you soak them in and It works pretty well.

A few tips though, do a few coats of thin spray paint and make sure it dries really well in between. Dont lay it on thick because it will turn out blochy. I tried to rush it with a halloween costume and it turned out terrible. Also when you leave it to dry, bring it inside or into a garage or something, because all the tiny bits of pollen, dirt or w/e is going to stick, and its gross. If your doing a stencil or something on it slide a piece of cardboard inside the shirt and then completly cover anything part you dont want paint on. And lastly It will fade in the wash (not too bad though). So wash it seperatly, on a cold gentle cycle with mild detergent.

Whew... ok that all the tips I know of, just from messing around with it myself. Good Luck!!

stencil. plastic inbetween the layers. saturate it with cheap spray. iron or dry to seal. launder inside out. wash it first if it's new. I've had the paint last longer than the fabric.

I've been wondering about this too. What's the difference between regular spray paint and fabric spray paint? I mean, is there really a difference at all?

I've never used fabric spray paint, but regular spray paint works just fine. It will fade some, but it will last forever. And you can always re-spray it again, or touch it up with fabric-markers.
Black shows up best, on light shirts.

Fabric spray paint is going to be a waste of money. I tried it once and even after heat setting the spray and letting it sit for 3 days before washing, almost all of the color came out, leaving a horribly faded design.

For the best result if you're stenciling, use normal fabric paint from a bottle or tube and paint it on. Walmart usually has some for pretty cheap... I got a 20 pack of small bottles for about 15 dollars a while ago, and larger bottles are usually under $2 per color.
