Buying Felt? Crafting on a Budget

I'm new to crafting in general... most I've done is help my mom with stuff when I was younger. I've decided with trying to sew some cute stuff out of felt. I've been looking online and I'm wondering... is it more price effective to buy felt online or at the stores? Which stores and sites are the cheapest?

Also, any other good craft suggestions for a crafter on a budget? Some other craft I should take up along with felt?

I go to Hobby Lobby all the time and a lot of the felt there is only two sheets for a dollar. Once I found some four for a dollar. So, yeah that's really cheap for me. Even the prints and the glitter sheets are only a dollar. I've never bought felt online because I don't think it would be worth the shipping price(If there was one). Also, I don't know if you have pets or anything, but my boyfriend wanted me to make a sweater for his dog and we went to Goodwill and found a cardigan for only three dollars and it was 3xl so I have a bunch of extra fabric. That's just another cheapie idea from me. Hope I helped!

Thanks! I was gonna check out the 2nd hand stores today... see if I can find some felt, fabric, and a few pairs of small cute jeans. I was gonna make some of those cute jean purses for my little sisters with some felt plush cute things in them.

Walmart sells felt for 20cents a sheet
Michaels felt is 29cents but their selection is way bigger.
Also the DollarTree sells packages of felt, for a dollar but I think the felt is thinner.

Didn't think of the dollar tree! I'll have to check there... thinner felt would be fine for the clothing on the dolls I'm making.

And ya... when I went to walmart they only had four colors... black, white, red, and green... and some multipacks that were missing most the colors I need. I tried Jo-Ann Fabrics and got a few sheets for 32 cents each... I'll have to check Michaels around here and check their color selection! Jo-Ann was having a great sale on stuffing. I got a huge bag for $3.
