Painting Things to Make Them Look Old

I have a German project, involving Bach and a tombstone. I don't want the stereotypical cereal box covered in gray construction paper tombstone. I'm making mine out of paper mache and cardboard. In any case, when I paint it, I want it to look weathered, and old. I have NO idea how to paint like that.

Any help would be great.

There is something in acrylic paint that if you use it(it's like a base) it makes the paint dry cracked. I forget who makes it but I believe it's called "Crackle".

You should also buy some of the moss they have for flower arrangements(the fake stuff in craft stores) and glue it on in random places to make it look like the tombstone has been covered in overgrowth. Happy
