I'm new at this whole crafty thing =)

Hey, so I'm very new to all of this. I love making new things out of old things, but I've only ever made very simple projects. I don't own a sewing machine but I will be getting my grandma's old one very soon. I don't know how to sew or follow a pattern or anything like that. I was just wondering if y'all could offer me some advice =) or any ideas on some simple projects I could start out with. Thanks!

First of all Danielle, welcome to CO&K!! And just to let you know, we're one big crafting family here and we can get you started or help with anything you have a question about.

First though, decide what you want to make or what you're interested in trying or learning to do. You can browse through the posted crafts to give you some ideas. For making things out of stuff you may already have around your house like plastic shopping bags, you try the fusing tutorial for that. I have tried this and it was fun and easy, and best part no fumes. You search from the projects page "fused plastic" to bring up different projects that were posted, (haha, mine is there too), but here is one that has video tutorial at least to show you how the actual fusing part is done. Hope this gets you started.

Welcome to CO+K. I've been signed up to this site for a few months, but I'm like you, new to the crafting and sewing stuff. I share a sewing machine with my mum and would love to get alot better at making and altering clothing.

Just have a browse on the kinds of areas that you want to work on and take it from there I guess... that's what I'm going to be doing.
