Christmas 2010 Craft-a-long

Last year I found myself running around like a fool during the month of December trying to make and buy Christmas presents! Don't want to be THE CHRISTMAS FOOL again this year, so I've decided to get a head start!
Each month I'll work on some Christmas goodies and was wondering if anyone out there wants to join me?

Craftalong 2: (24 June - 15 July).
Make something for your significant other, be it a boyfriend, a husband, a special friend etc.
Be sure to post some pictures!

Craftalong 1Happy20 May - 5 June).
I'm going to kick start this with making some Christmas cards. This might include some recycling of some old cards.
Am going to try make 12-15 cards. Will post some piccies of my progress.
Why not join me?!

Well I've just finished 5 cards. I recycled some old cards and used some paper scraps. Am very happy with the result!

You know, every year I have this same idea...but I never get around to it. Seems like I always wait till Dec. 20-23 to try to buy things.

My question for you, since you seam to have this in the bag...tell me what to do for a big family that's on the cheap. I've got these people to make for:

My Family:

Mom, Dad, Brother [Brother and Wife and their 2 year old] Brother and Wife] [Brother and Girlfriend]

Best friend, Best friend#2 and her son (will be 10 months old)

My HUSBAND! of course and my child (will be 1 year old on Dec.1)

My Husband's family:

Mother, Stepfather
Father, Stepmother

[brother, wife, 2 boys under 5yrs] [brother, wife, 2 girls under 14yrs] [brother, girlfriend] [sister] [brother]

I'm at a loss. That's 31 people in my immediate family!

dessah-- if you do jewellery making, make some different themed sets for the girls and women you think would wear them.. like earrings, a necklace and a bracelet? or a stack of different bracelets? that could be part of it? i know i'd love that.. also you could make little purses/make-up pouches/pencil cases; perhaps to put the bracelets in? i'd love to know what you do, let us know! <3

this is such a wise idea... but defenately not the right moment to join for me... maybe later!
a good idea is to look at last year presents (the ones you received) to get some ideas! and I like to recycle christmas card as well, yours look very nice ^^

Dessah H - For the little ones perhaps you can sew some simple felt plushies.
For the ladies you could perhaps knit scarves using thick needles and thick wool (this way it will go quickly)! I'm also thinking maybe perhaps making them some jewelry like earrings. Another idea is to put together a cookie mix. You mix all the dry ingredients together (put this in a plastic zip lock bag inside a brown/decorative paper bag) together with a label explaining what other ingredients they need to add etc.

i make stuff for xmas, this is what i did last year.

jewlery sets and make up pouches for all my sister in laws, friends.

Decorative picture frames with picture of our family and the girls to both sets of parents.

For all my brothers and brother in laws, some got coaster themed sets. One had a horror movie dvd cover set, one had all anime set another had a world of warcraft set. (buy the premade wood coasters at craft store for cheap, paint, mod podge image, mod podge ontop then spray a protective lacquer on to it. A couple of them got ninja plushies and keychains. (one year I made them tshirts, print image on iron on transfer sheets, iron on and poof)

For my nieces, I made them all ccute little waist aprons and printed out easy cookie recipes on cards.

For my nephews I made them a pouch for either their psp or DS.

hope this helps. Happy

Sug,
Those are some great ideas you had for gifts. I may have to make some coasters for some of my family this year.

Tracy, this is great idea, but I'm not quite there yet for getting this started. Right now I'm just trying to get myself to start on my daughter's Halloween costume, so I'm not sewing it all up the night before she needs it.

Little hand made books for me this year.I'll be doing lots of visiting (as ever) and travelling too.So I'm using paper bags and some dollar print paper I found at 75% off in PaperSource.I also will be using some of the huge collect of stamps I seem to have acquired over the past 2 yrs ! Will post batches Happy
Last year I sent one of these book to my parents ahead of our Yellowstone trip.My Mum pointed out a while back that she likes doing the research for her holidays as much as the trip.We had fun using it !
I sent the girls the Jewelery Quilts, the easy ribbon skirts and scrap bears were all popular. All are on my projects.

Well I've run out of wool for the project I was working on, so I've started on something else (a fabric journal) - should have it finished by the end of the week.
