Scolarships for college?
So I'm a senior in high school and college is looking like something that might be in my future (it's a long story as to why I was iffy about and didn't really plan much in the beginning, so it's really my fault). I was wondering if anyone knew about any scolarships that might be flying around?
I've tried the sites, and when I mentioned it to the college advisors at my school, they told me grades wouldn't qualify me for scolarships, and they didn't really touch on it from there.
I know I'm not dumb (I take all honors and a few AP classes and pretty much get A's and B's) and I know that I could be able to get in SOMEWHERE, but it's the money that's stopping me. Everything just seems to be academic, but I know there must be other scolarships out there (I'm trying to apply for an art scolarship now).
I'm just wondering if anyone might have some hints or leads for me to maybe look into :3
I'm printing out a bunch of stuff over the next few days to take to the college advisors at my school and to get help filling everything out and making sure I do it right.
Thank you for your time,
Sign up at www.studentawards.com and fill out a profile. They match you to scholarships based on the information you give them. There are a lot of different ones there. Also try stumbleupon for some weirder ones ;)
There are a few scholarships web sites out there that require essays or for you to be a specific race or a first generation uni student or something else ridiculous that for whatever entitles some people for a scholarship over others. I used to work in a high school guidance office so I am totally frustrated that your counselor wasn’t more help. I’ll see about contacting one of my old co-workers for some of the websites we gave to students to use.
Thank you both
