emo v.s punk

I have to agree with those posters who have pointed out that what most under 20s (or even under 30s) describe as punk is more pop-punk. As a child of the 80s in London I would say 'first time round' punk and goth/new romantic (who did a lot of what Emo does now 'the first time round'- it does make me chuckle when things are marketed as new/shocking and they aren't, things just go in cycles).

As for my current musical tastes- I'd go with punk pop and power pop. Ha ha if I were an emo it would be very 'mutton dressed as lamb' I'd be old enough to be everyone elses mum, whereas plenty of folk my age are at punk gigs still.

we talking about real punk?

cause im sick and tired of hearing people go on about goodcharlotte being punk

it makes my ears bleed.

Im more of a bigger fan of deathrock/psychobilly kinda thing going on. im not really that into the newer stuff and 80s music is way more intriguing than most of todays stuff :|

i don't think anyone really know what "real punk" or "real emo" actually is.

Punk all the way. Personally I think emo sounds way to generic...
