Craft Books

I thought maybe it would be a cool idea, if we started a group about craft books that people have written, heard of, recommend, or which ones to just stay plain clear of.

I was looking for some crafty idea books on amazon, but by the sounds of it most were hit and miss, and my library doesn't have them, sob.

Any suggestions?

dya know in my opinion this site is far better then any craft book going, most craft books have the same old stuff in them which are on here but updated and with twists. I've looked at craft books and just think whats the point!

maybe we all at CO&K should make our own craft book this way like we can put our favorite project that we worked on and show it off to the world to see!!! that would be awesome. I think this is a brilliant idea..hint hint cat~ lol

That sounds like a great idea, sugarlishes. I've been eyeing up the big bad ass book of craft recently, but I think i'm going to have to resort to my imagination for my next few projects.

Haha, that would be awesome. Apparently some publisher is going to call me about a book at some point, so fingers crossed.

Ooh get you Cat!

I have "Yes! I Made It Myself" which is pretty useful, it has a few cute projects in it. My friend has an amazing one called "Making Stuff", it has loads of different types of crafts and you can maked some really interesting things, it's great

is Yes! I made it myself! the same as "Yeah! I made it Myself!"?

if it is... well it's wicked. it's brilliant for anyone who wants to start but is a bit nervous about making clothes. i'm not sure if i ever made a project from that but just from reading it i'm confident enough to make stuff for myself whenever i want. how cool am i?

Oh, it is "yeah" haha. Yeah I don't often follow the tutorials but it's just a funny read and boosts confidence and stuff. I might try and make a dress from there though

I've got the Making Stuff book, it's really good because it's not just the same old boring stuff you find everywhere else. There's instructions for how to make soap in there that I really want to try out, and I'm thinking that (if it goes well) will be what I'm going to use for my Christmas presents this year haha.

I just bought the most amaaaazing jewellery book, 1000 Jewelry Inspirations. It's got loads of pictures of things other people have made, and there are some beautiful pieces in there. I've got loads of ideas from it, so I'm out of the creative rut I was stuck in (y)

great idea!
a crafty book club (:
well i have to say generation t (t shirt surgery book)
is for those who:
have buckets of old shirts that they can use
have some sewing experience
have a sewing machine (optional)
like a punk look or have a funky style
and lastly don't get tired of things easily

if you have not checked of 1 or more options on this list the book is not for you
if you have, woo! go ahead and buy it (:

I know this is an older thread, but I have a couple comments and recommendations.

I agree that this site is better than any craft book and that a Cut Out & Keep book would be GREAT!

As far as book recommendations, I suggest the following:
The Big Ass Book of Crafts
The Micheal's Book of Arts & Crafts
I would love to hear what other people recommend so if we can get this thread up and running again that would be awesome!
