I read Bazaar quite a lot, they've done some fantastic things with Vivienne Westwood. Occasionally Vogue, but that's more mainstream. Don't read Elle. But right now I don't have nearly enough money to spend £4 on a magazine =(

I got an Elle a while ago but I've not read through it yet, it's huge and it started to annoy me. Even proper fashion magazines annoy me, but more so the smaller ones, that are mostly gossip. I buy them and then wonder why. I call it ''journalism'' with the whole hand air quote thing.

There's that saying about fashion magazines, or more 'women's magazines', 'A page named 10 reasons why men are crap and a page on 10 ways to give a blow job'. One magazine I got once had 'Loose 6 Stone in 6 weeks' on one page and then a few pages on 'Keira Knightly dangerously thin'. They seem to be aimed at intellegent women, their little anecdotes are based in a workplace like an office but it feels like they're telling me how to think. I think it encourages people to be bitchy about what other people choose to wear etc. Some have really good articles though and obviously not everyone treats it as gospel. I don't like Sex and the City because it feels like a fashion magazine that moves (don't shoot!). Fashion magazines for young girls are worse, how to make boys like you, rather then just being yourself.

I agree. Some magazines are like that. I really don't like the whole sex articles but I do like vaniety fair for its articles on culture

Oh yeah I mostly hated women's magazines, but Bazaar has none of that crap. It also has a lot of alternative stuff in, which I appreciate. Plus it's British and every year do a British issue =)

Italian Vogue is another great mag.

When I read fashion magazines, I find that I can't relate to anything they talk about. Especially the sex and dating articles. Worse is their actual fashion. Even Harper's Bazaar. I have never looked at a fashion mag and seen something I really liked. They don't appeal to me because they don't present anything that looks wearable. Firstly, I'm a chubby gal. Secondly, the majority of their looks couldn't be flatteringly tailored to my proportions. Third, their "high fashion" crap always looks ridiculous and uncomfortable. Their make up suggestions are sometimes useful, though.

I always want everything out of Bazaar! I'm very aware I couldn't wear it because I'm too big, but I still want them.
