I want to kick it out of the WINDOW!!!

I hate my new sewing machine, I can't figure the darned thing out! Just when I think I've got it. I don't. Know I'm going to have to spring for some lessons, if I can find the time, anyway. Sheesh.

: that sucks! Thats what I'm worried about!

My cousin [who is also my boss] is giving me her sewing machine for free [except that every year I have to sew her older daughter's poodle skirt for a sock hop at her school] and I'm afraid I won't be able to work the damn thing. Happy

But I suppose that is what this place is for Happy I can just pawn off my ignorance on you people Happy

I figured it out!! Whooohooooo! I am so excited. It's not completly figured out but I'm getting somewhere.

The bobbin wasn't threaded (is that the right word?) right. I didn't know there was like a slip threader in the thing, and then the tension was super off, which is what I thought, but I wasn't fixing it right. So I just sewed 3 sides of something together, I didn't make anything, but I just sewed (sewed doesn't seem right either I just sewn?) something with a machine! I'm on beyond exstactic!!!!! Thanks for reading my confusing ramblings. (=

I have not figured it out. I needed to add more thread to the bobbin, and have not since been able to repeat any sewing and I ripped up my tote bag! I hate this sewing machine. I had sewn 2 of the handles together and one side of the tote bag. I have checked the tension on the bobbin and it is just like my book and the dvd said it should be. The top tension is on 4 just like the book and dvd said it should be. Everything is threaded just the way it says, and I did everything the EXACT same way I did it when I was excited in the above comment. But, it will not work. The top side of the fabric looks fine. Nice even stitches, the bottom looks like a shaggy carpet? I have no clue what is going on. And I really want to kick this peice of $@#t out of the window!!!!!! I think its just messing with my emotions now. I don't like crying and its making me cry. )= Sewing machines Suck!!

aww dont cry when i first got my machine i was all excited and my thread kept doing the same thing i took the bobbin casee out and cleaned it alll nice
that helped one time i forgot to put my sewing foot back down lol
another time i couldnt figure out why the needle wouldnt move up and down duh i didnt push that lil peice back over after i wound my bobbin
but now a few mos later we are starting to become good buddies and i am even experimenting w some of the other stitchs my latest problem though is forgetting to switch from zigzag when i have to do a str8 stich etc so ill accidently start to sew zigzag lol

I know we will make friends someday.....
But for now I hate it. I really really hate it. You have no idea how much self control it took me to not really throw it somewhere. Luckily for it My Grandparents-in-law bought it for me. And I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.

:

When I read your first one [after my comment] I was like YAY and my mom looked at me weird, and then I read the second one and my mom asked why i said yay, but I didn't hear her, so I said "someones going to throw a sewing machine out of the window because of the bobbin and shit"

and she was SO CONFUSED, it was rather amusing Happy

BUT THAT SUCKS! Just give it a very stern warning and an angry look!

When I couldn't get our sewing machine to work properly (it used to work really super duper well!) I totally felt like kicking it out of the window or dropping it off the roof.

This why I want to get a new sewing machine, I don't want to have to wade through the old instructions on my mum's old sewing machine and spend ages on figuring out how to use it. If I get a new one there will be clear instructions and it should be easier to use. My brithday's coming up soon, goodie goodie....

It is new, and the instructions ARE pretty clear. I think I'm stuck on making both tensions match. I guess it's an art. I WILL eventually get it........
......I HOPE! (=

The instructions for our sewing machine are TERRIBLE. They're on a huge sheet, and the pictures are rubbish so I have no clue what I'm doing.
Thankfully its pretty old and not very complicated, so most of the time I can work out whats gone wrong by myself, or with my mums help. I've even managed to fix things my mum had never been able to fix, like the bobbin always used to thread wonky (lots of thread at the bottom, not enough at the top) but I had a little fiddle around and now it threads all nice and evenly Happy

My sewing machine is rubbish, every now and then it just stops working, then if I leave it for a few months it suddenly starts working again

It did it to me again
It worked
Had to change the bobbin
Now it doesn't work anymore

I've had my sewing machine for a little over a month and I still haven't learned how to use it. Its my first sewing machine too. Maybe that's a reason for it
