A Polish food shop opened quite recently in my town, and every time it's been brought up in conversation (if we're driving past it or whatever) people are like "Urgh, what are they doing here?". It's just a shop, and it means Polish people who live here can get some of their home comforts. And people don't complain about other foreign food shops, like Chinese or Indian takeaways!

yeh there's a polish food shop near us, I think it's cool. Yeh i've seen programmes about when they first introduced chinese/indian takeaways, theres a street near where my dad lives that is all asian owned with shops selling sari's etc, they get up off their arses and bloody work hard!

and people go 'uurgh polish taking all our jobs' well the fact that the jobs were there waiting in the first place says something!

Yeah, and the people who complain usually have jobs anyway! Either that or they're just not looking hard enough.

People are idiots. We are here for a life. If we don't like it, we could move to London [unless you're in london], or America, or Mexico, or France. Thats what these people have done. They've moved somewhere to help themselves and their family, to try and start a life. I honestly see no problem with that.

Yeah, and if the roles were reversed and the people who complain about foreign people moved to another country and got negative reactions from the locals then they'd be shouting about how it's unfair they're being discriminated against. Some people are just never happy and always want something to complain about.

yeh it's alright for the British to imagrate to Spain or Austrailia but if its people coming here it's 'ooh they get everything!' I bet it took frikkin ages to save up the money to get here and they didn't just hop on a plane. And they interview these people stuck in Calais trying to hide under a lorry to get on a ferry etc and they think England will be wonderful Happy

Yeah, I bet it would be a struggle for most people in this country to afford to move somewhere else, and a lot of the people who move here come from countries that are less well off than ours so they're likely to have even less money.

none of us really know what it's like properly, since a lot about asylum seekers was probably stirred up by papers like the sun. Like this 'oh they come here and get everything' how do people know this, and if they've been failed asylum then how are they gonna 'get everything' then with no papers! so then they have to work illegally in terrible conditions. But people think 'ooo asylum seekers, they just come here and take everything and don't care' they must hate feeling like a shadow!

And my friend always goes 'I just hate PAKKIS! they come here and just get given everything' but she thinks iranian and turkish men are 'pakis' and I said to her the guy at our papershop 'they didn't just arrive and somebody said here have a shop' and the most of pakistanis and indians are like 2nd/3rd generation born here and are british citizens! And the guy who runs the shop is indian anyway I think because the majoirty of pakistan is muslim, the majority of india is hindu and his wife wears saris so.

she had a moan once about these men with turbans and I said 'they were probably sikh, so of Indian origin' and she said 'well i don't know what sikh is', uurgh the ignorance!

/RANT!!!

People who own corner shops must have to put a lot of effort in, and their shops are really useful when you need a pint of milk or a newspaper or something, so I don't see why people have any reason to complain.

And I know what you mean, I hate it when people are really ignorant about something yet they do nothing but complain about it. Either find out about something and then decide you don't like it, or just get over the fact that you know nothing about it and stop complaining when you have nothing to complain about

if you reallly want to get his goat, hee hee, you can always go with the argument i use with my bible thumping sister.

the bible is a guide to live a better life. not the end all of end alls, we all know deep in our hearts the right thing to do, we just choose not to do it. remember freedom of choice is something God has given us all. it is us to us to do what we know is right, but i degress a bit.

she usually comes back with, God told man to write it, and i reply, true, but if God told man to write that the sky is a beautiful azure blue, with light, fluffy, cottony clouds that are white with a hint of pink, and man wrote, the sky is bluish with whitish clouds, he wrote what *HE* thought was said. it isn't wrong, but it isn't right either. that just gets her going.

then i pull out the ted copal special from a few years ago, where they proved that St.Paul was not with Jesus, and many of the things he preached were not spoken by Jesus. for instance, no where in any record except his could you find anything Jesus said about being gay or lesbian is wrong. but they did find recods of his letters of dislike.

it was a very good special, and i wish i would have taped it. they had many different religious leaders and people who study religions on it, it was on air around Easter, several years ago.

i read a life magazine from the 50's and it had a great article about religons, listing most of them and how they believed, and for the most part they are all the same, a belief in a being greater than oneself.

my sister preaches to me, i laugh, thank her and tell her to remember, "judge not lest ye be judged" or something to that effect.

in my mind, that means, you should be judging anyone unless God himself/Goddess herself has judge you as sin free and fit to judge others.
