WHY NOW?!?!?!

For the past week and a half I've been going to science and math camp partly because I want and partly because my mother wants me to be more social. So every day I go from 8:30 to 2:30, I talk, I laugh, I build rockets and I do everything other than play on my laptop. So today I come home after a really long "Game Day" and go to pick up my laptop and sit down for half an hour before I start on 4-H projects. But to my surprise I discover that she has taken my laptop and hidden it. My mother then tells me that she thinks I've been on my laptop WAY to much and that I need to read or play in the pool for the rest of the day. Today it was the coldest day in all of July at 64 degrees, which here (with the wind blowing) is way to cold to play in our pool. I had to pay my brother five bucks to get it and then when I finally think I'm home free to play a little when 15 minutes later my mom says "Bed Time," and runs up the stairs turning all the lights out. I just can't understand why now when I'm using it the least she would take it away.

Parents can be harsh. She needs to understand that being social can't be pushed. It is something that doesn't work if you must.
A good talk with her is the only solution I think..

I agree - talk to her (calmly). Even if all you end up with is an understanding of why she's doing what she's doing, at least you'll be better placed to work out how you can get round it Happy

Also, is she maybe assuming that you're on your laptop more than you actually are? Just a thought.

I feel for you. My mother made me join the band in HS so that I would be more social. She didn't take into consideration that I didn't play the instrument well enough to be in the HS band and got low grades for 4 years. This brought down my over all grade point average and affected where I went to university.

If you are in camp all day and then working on 4H projects...you are very responsible and deserve a break. You mom sounds as though she has a very idealistic view of what the life of a teen should be.
