Distracted!

I always get distracted whenever I have something to do, and sometimes even when I don't have anything to do and I'm about to make lunch/go to the loo, something distracts me!
It's getting really annoying, I need to do things but the distractions! And sometimes lack of motivation. There's a lot I want to do, but I worry about messing up, running out of time or getting hurt.
Right now I'm scared of my sewing machine. I also think that it's slightly broken because the stitches on the selector wheel don't match up to the stitch that comes out, and I can't fit all fabrics under the foot thingy. Plus the needle gets unthreaded like every time and it's hard to put the thread back through the eye.
It's like every thing is ganging up against me, one day I fear I'll have some sort of break down :S
...
I just looked at the title of this topic and managed to distract myself Happy
I think I need help somehow

Well I don't know how to help you with the distractions but I suggest you give your machine a good cleaning and an oiling and see if that doesn't help.

I don't know anything about sewing machines, its confusing enough that I don't have the instructions, and the numbers on the wheel go 3-20,2.1,3-20 etc

You might have a weird kind of anxiety or other disorder that causes you to become distracted easily.

You could try to reward yourself after focusing on one task at a time. If you accomplish one thing, like getting your sewing machine to work without getting distracted, do something you like or eat one of your favorite snacks.

It's very rare that I get distracted from what I'm doing unless I'm on the internet. To give you an example (and maybe a laugh) I was really intent on making soap earlier, and after I poured one batch and couldn't make another, I sat there and just stared at the soap until it was ready to pop out of the mold. Then I got my supplies out again to make another batch. Haha

I can totally sypathise with you Nikki I have times where i get like this, happens more when I'm stressed and tired and then I find it hard to get the motivation to do anything. I tend to get like this through anxiety and from suffering on and off with depression.

Can't hurt to have a word with your local gp just to see if theres any advice they can offer.

I'm with you Nikki!
Procrastination is my middle name, I rarely finish something 100% because I suddenly think of something else that "has" to be done. Same with my projects - if I don't finish it and it get's put away then it usually stays unfinished (I like the idea of making a quilt but I know it's just not in me right now!) I have a couple of bags upstairs that need handles but now I've gone off them.
I did finally finish painting my hall and stairs last week - after about 4 years of it being one colour downstairs and another at the top!

it's not so much that i get distracted it's that i'll start something but i can't finish it because i'm to tierd and in pain before its all done ( i have the illnes M.E/CFS) then i'll forget what i was doing so i'll start something else , it just goes round and round like that

i end up doing things that i know will only take a ahort time (10 mins) that way at least something ends up being done .

i also have to make lists that way i can see i've done something
