well it would take a while to make it across the ocean, but if you are near the ocean, you may want to keep a look out.

when the ocean receads a great distance, head upland

I am on the island Kauai and nothing real serious happened here. the roads were closed for a while because of the rise in the ocean but other than that we were lucky.

The tsunami advisory has officially ended for Hawaii effective at 11:26 a.m., according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

Tsunami wave heights across the state are now below advisory levels and are continuing to diminish.

Based on all available data the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center is now canceling the tsunami advisory.

Smaller sea level changes and strong or unusual currents may persist for several additional hours and appropriate caution should be exercised by boaters and swimmers.

Just thought I'd put that up for everyone else to see! So we can collectively sigh from relief. I am glad we dont have to worry now, and all the attention from other governments can be focused on Japan in their state of crisis.

I'm glad all of us in Hawaii were safe <3

So glad it was OK for Hawaii.

I drove the boys to school/bus this morning to hear at the quake had happened.
The ocean is 3 hrs drive from Seattle but Puget Sound can be affected by Tsunami. We live the other side of a fresh water lake so are not physically affected by Tsunami events.
We live over a crazy quilt of faults and have minor tremors that we don't feel all the time.

I have good friends who live near Tokyo.
I received an email from them this morning saying they have survived but that there are many people dead.

My thoughts go to all those affected by this event

Glad those of you in Hawaii were safe! I got home last night from a dinner to turn on the TV and see what had happened in Japan, the way it was being reported made it sound as if they were very concerned about a big tsunami hitting the island in Hawaii.

The Japanese search and rescue team has been here in New Zealand helping (with many other rescue teams from around the world) to go through all the rubble in Christchurch looking for survivors at first, and more recently for bodies. They only left to return home to Japan this afternoon, so they have gone from one natural disaster here to another in their home country. They have already spent three weeks going through the rubble of our city and now have to go home and do it all again .... I can’t even comprehend how hard that must be for them. They must be exhausted. The report said that some of the search and rescue team had family in Japan who were directly affected by the quake and tsunami .... it’s so terribly sad.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan.

The powerful earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on Friday has moved the island's coast inward 8 feet and has shifted the Earth on its axis by nearly 4 inches.

crazy
