Halloween sucked!

Hardly anyone last night was handing out candy! I swear, only every 4 or 5 houses was there one or two handing out candy! We walked for an hour and a half just to get a decent amount of candy. My daughter started crying because we were passing too many houses that didn't have their lights on(which I guess is indication they are handing out candy).

I guess people weren't handing out candy this year because Halloween just so happened to land on a Sunday. Whoopty doo! Thanks for ruining it for the kids!

I didn't find Halloween much fun either. We didn't get our pumpkins until the 31st and by that time there was only 1 super market left selling them and there was only 5 left and 2 were rotten. And to me it felt like halloween wasn't very festive at all this year probaly because we had no decorations pumpkins we got on the day and no sweets...

sorry it was not fun for your kids. i don't really like halloween but i made sure to have candy to pass out even though we didn't get many kids this year. the last kids that came up to us before curfew we just dumped the rest of the candy into their bags Happy

where i live nobody gives out candy when it's halloween Happy
the dressing up of halloween is done when it's carnaval here (kinda like halloween, but without the candy and it goes on for 4 days, and lots of people drink a lot.)
and the candy bit, erm...i never went trick-or-treating
we don't really celebrate halloween here, barely anyone ever carves pumpkins on halloween too.
such a shame :p

I hate to say Im glad I wasnt the only one! Halloween sucked! It hasnt been a very "exciting" year...now its time to plan for Thanksgiving and Christmas but all the drama it brings just makes me want to run away!

I kind of knew it was going to happen though. I saw a poll on cnn asking people when they were celebrating. A lot said they weren't going to at all and others were celebrating on saturday or friday. Why is it such a big deal that halloween is on a sunday? It's just a fun holiday! I dunno why people have to ruin it.

I didn't get to really celebrate this year, but my mom handed out candy like she always does. She said they only got one trick or treater. And she kept the lights on til about 9. And there wasn't anyone really out near me, it seemed like everyone stayed in.

There really is no excuse to not hand out candy for the kids--I mean, even if you are dead broke and living with someone to make ends meet, it's not impossible to pool money for a bag of cheapo candy to hand out. I, of all people, know this.

Peoples' selfishness/lack of brains really gets to me. >.<

Some crazy lady handed out cheap off brand hard candy stapled to a card for some church saying "Find Jesus". <.< I threw it out.

Why didn't you just throw out the card? Maybe that type of candy was all she could afford.... it's not like someone who is saying "Find Jesus" would poison the candy. Happy

It's a cover up! LOL No, my general rule is strict. Nothing that could be tampered with. Which means home made, unwrapped, or has obvious holes. Something in a foreign language makes me uneasy too, I dunno what the standards for food are over seas and I dun wanna find out. D: If you let one thing slip with a kid, like if I let them have this candy, they'd ignore the rule altogether and might eventually eat something with a razor or something in it.

I agree with Rachie... At least she made the effort to hand out sweets!

I agree that Halloween is not as fun as it used to be. I haven't been trick-or-treating in years but I always would hand out. This year there were like 20 kids.

Earlier in the day my mom and I went for a walk around our neighbourhood around 5 so it wasnt dark but it was getting there and in the four blocks we walked I only counted about 8 houses that were decorated. I remember going as a kid to every house. There would be only 1 or 2 that weren't giving out. I find all holidays (i consider halloween one) are getting less "special" and "magical" every year.

I still dressed up tho. I made a quick costume and wore it to a friend's house. We got people together and watched scary movies but it's just not the same. Every holiday is a let down now.

^ It is. Every holiday I just get depressed now because it's not like when I was a kid. I almost feel like I'm letting my kids down because the magic of these holidays is no longer there.

That's how I feel, too, especially being in a country without Christian/American/Pagan (lol) holidays. If/when I have kids, I want them to experience each holiday in MI at least once. Happy
