Fudging Pop-Up Ads

Sorry about those adverts!

We're working with the people running them to sort this out - they were showing on too many pages, way to much.

The ads do support the site, so it's really important we get them right - and that means getting feedback from everybody!

I'm looking into removing these for logged in users too - or reducing the volume of them. The guys we're working with for adverts do have some fantastic clients which *should* be of interest though. Maybe hair products aren't the most interesting though...

I'm passing on all your feedback to them too - nobody wants adverts nobody likes!

Any other feedback, feel free to email tom (at) cutoutandkeep.net

Thanks (and sorry!)!

On top of the ads, which luckily firefox adblocker helped with, when I go to look at my "Projects" ( Right next to where it says Hi (My name)... it says:

Something went wrong!
Sorry

We've been notified about this bug, and hope to have it fixed shortly

It's been like this for a week or more now and I was wondering when you might have it fixed...
Thanks.

In the last 5 minutes I've had loansharks, dating agencies and hamburger joints. So tacky.

Oh it was haircare!! If you're giving them feedback you can tell them that they didn't convey their messege very well since no-one knew it was haircare, otherwise I would have been corrected. Models and dance music seems glam, but pointless we don't know what products they are selling. Just a thought, I'm no marketing expert.

I knew it was haircare... It said it quite large when it popped up in the middle of the screen, or was it the banner that sat at the bottom of the page? Eitherway, it was still rather annoying. Static ads would be good down the sides. Flashy annoying ads won't get any of our business as they annoy us too much! People who make these adverts must realise this?! They would have to of done research to know how to attract customers... Actually come to think of it they probably didn't? Lol.

That's the sad thing Ruby is that these Market Reasearchers get paid loads and spent loads of money on research and come up with the same old cr*p

:p Lol. Right to the point there, you're right!

Just because the ad is in the middle of the screen doesn't mean I'mma read it. LOL I X out of those things faster than the text can load.

Being myopic I use ctrl+ to make my screen display bigger. Those make up adverts cover the whole of my page and I can't see anything or access anything on the page. I end up scrolling down to find the well hidded X to click of the darn thing!
I wouldn't mind if it was on the side of the page where it didn't get in the way.
The one in the top right corner is the worst. If you try to use the scroll bar it catches you!!! AAAAArgggh
Thank you Tom for looking at this issue.

Dunno if this has already been mentioned, too tired to read everything now, but what dirves me mad is that you literally CAN'T klick "next" in the project menu or sometimes even the post-button, because instead of what I was hoping to happen, this frissin Sebastian add pops up. Curious how many times I need to post this thread today...

Hey everyone, we're so sorry about these adverts and especially the bug where you couldn't click elsewhere. These adverts aren't selected or managed by us but by an advertising agency, who select what campaigns to show on the site. We're working with them now to get these to be as minimal as possible... so hopefully you'll be seeing a lot less of them soon!

I understand CO+K needs ads to keep it running, but how about more appropriate ads?
I come to this site because its a craft site so I have craft on my brain while I'm here,

so annoying ads with skanky girls trying to sell me make-up and hair products doesn't interest me. (it more upsets me, I'd rather research the make-up company too see what animal testing they do and what toxins they put in their products. I have no interest in buying what they are selling)
Also the Jeep ads I don't know how many people are thinking of buying cars when they visit a craft website? but I'm thinking not many.

I would be very interested however if the ads were more about crafts! (like the canon printer ad, crafty people are more likely to be interested in a printer as it can be used for craft purpose)
If I saw an ad for an online craft supply store I would have to click it to find out more! I would also be more likely to buy something from these ads if they were craft related! I'm always looking for new materials, craft books and supplies!

I've now installed an adblocker so I don't see any ads at all. I used to like the odd craft ad at the side of the page but those annoying pop-ups have killed it for me.

Zina, we'd love to have it so that it shows more appropriate ads but we don't get to pick them! We're just at the mercy of whoever choose to advertise and we don't have a say.

The annoying rollover should be gone for all our logged in members, sorry that took a while.
