Stupid post office has killed my swapping joy. -.-

Soooo... I've been griping about this today in the swapping forum, but I'm going to start an official thread here to complain and garner sympathy. <.<

So within the past 2 or 3 months, I have sent out two packages that got lost, and am waiting for 3 or so packages that were sent ages ago. The ones I sent are the Rockabilly Swap (yes, this began way back then) and one other swap that I can't think of at the moment. I am waiting for my Rockabilly Swap, one other swap (same one I'm not thinking of at the moment that disappeared when I sent), and something I purchased from Ebay. Originally, I thought that the Ebay thing was a bad seller, but after I messaged her about it, she messaged me back saying she was very upset that I hadn't received the package, that she will give me a full refund, and to keep in touch in case it does show up.

I can't help but think that this is the fault of the Israeli postal service, because one swap was from Europe, one was from some other random continent/country (sorry--details tend to elude me when I'm in a tizzy), and the Ebay was from the continental U.S. I mean, it just seems accurate....

I have no idea what to do about this, because I spent literally DAYS working on one of the Rockabilly swap items, and it was a masterpiece--really hard to let go of. Now NOBODY gets to enjoy it, because of the stupid, unprofessional postal "service"!! (Don't even get me started on how everyone here is sooo unprofessional and has NO shame.....)

Even worse? I FINALLY got my mom to send me my set of first-edition Harry Potter books, and now I'm TERRIFIED that they will never get here, AND I have two swaps currently in the works--the International Swap of Joy and my own Harry Potter Swap. What am I supposed to do, pay about 200 shekels for registered mail, per EACH package? (That's about $50.00 USD for 200 shekels, fyi.)

I don't know. I'm just beyond infuriated at this point, and going to the post office and yelling will do NO good--partially because it's probably not my local branch's fault, but mostly because all people do here is yell at each other, mostly for no reason.

Okay, I think I'm done. I'm just soooooooo mad about ALL these packages being lost all at once--it's inexcusable, and they don't give a rat's rear end!

~-.-~ <--steam coming out the ears!

***Also, this means I'm quitting swapping for a while; I just can't have it on my conscience that whomever gets partnered with me will most likely end up NOT getting their items. Happy

OMG...that seriously sucks. I wish I knew what to do!

Are there any independent shipping agencies, like in the US? Fedex, UPS...or some other private place that wouldn't cost a fortune?

Aawww honey that is a fudging pain in the backside. Have you still got your postage receipts?

That's (obv) your proof of postage. Whether you have it or not I would write a letter to the head office!!

That really sucks. I've had issues with things not being sent/received because I am an avid ebay buyer. When I have had issues in the past, I've gone to the postal office and spoken with a supervisor about the lost items. Usually managed to make me at least feel like something was getting done.

I don't really know how Israel's post office works, I've only "known" one person who has lived there and I didn't like her because she kept trying to break up my relationship while she was still living in Israel, but I'm sure they have some sort of tracking method. Most packages in the US have tracking numbers that you can type into the postal services website to see where its located at. If you kept like the stub from your package maybe you will find a tracking number?

I understand you, because Serbian post office is the same.Everyone is really rude and yells at everyone.I really hate to go to post offices. Happy

I went to ask about a swap package a few months ago and the woman screamed at me that its not her job to know and to track my packages,I should ask the person who I sent it to.Very rude.So since then I really hate to go ask about anything there.

And when I was sending out Laurels package and she asked what I was sending (they always ask that very rudely,it kind of makes me feel like a criminal) and I said there was jewelery inside the package, they said I cant send jewelery in the mail. What?! Since when? So now every time they I go to post a package I have to lie about what Im sending. Happy pff...

Post offices are a pain in the ...

Thanks, everyone.

In Israel you have to pay extra for just about anything, and that includes tracking. Silly me--I should have known to expect nothing from them except what's happened. From now on, I'm paying extra for the tracking, I guess.

I don't know if they have any private shipping options; I was wondering that today, but haven't been able to look into it.

.......

Okay, I just asked someone at work, and she says that Israel DOES have UPS, DHL, etc., so maybe I can look into that in the future. It's unfortunate that I have to go to this extreme, though--I was making friends with the people at the post office before this!

Another thing that I forgot to mention in my initial post is that I've recently started selling some of my crafts, and I'm terrified of those going missing when someone buys and I have to ship internationally. I DO ship internationally, but what if something goes missing???

Also, what was that girl's name, if you don't mind? Everyone knows everyone in Israel, so I kind of want the juicy gossip. ;) :-P

WOW--they said you can't send JEWELRY??!?!?! I really think that she was just being nasty. There is no reason to not send jewelry. x.x

You should have said, "Okay, okay! I lied! It's anthrax!"

I sent you a pm with the answer to your question. Didn't want to broadcast her name so everyone can bombard her on FB or anything. Tongue

I just visited the post office this morning to send a rosary someone bought off me. They took forever opening up and waiting on the first customer. Then when I got to the desk the lady pushed me off to the side because I had to fill out the address on the package(I bought the package to send right there at the post office). Wasn't happy about being told to stand to the side just to write a quick address. I'm not a slow writer like my husband. <.<

I went to the post office today, and the woman was actually very nice and helpful. She said that I should try to find the reciepts of when I sent the packages, and ask those who sent me packages to do the same, to see if anything can be tracked. She also gave me a phone number. I think it's for the Jerusalem office, and they are VERY rude there, but at least she tried. Happy

We will see what happens...
