Bra Sizing Is Never Right

And BTW they should offer all styles of bras and clothing across all sizes. I tend to find that both in clothing AND bra's the bigger the size the more hideous the garment...

I've always found smaller size clothing and bra's are beautiful but they offer something compleatly different for the bigger sizes. It's like what?! You think I won't like it in the style and materials of the smaller styles? Like I WANT to look like some grannified blob!!

Sorry, it's just a personal rant of mine Tongue

I agree! I'm so tired of the fact that you can't find anything but a granny bra in my size. So disappointed.

I've already bought my few clothes for the year. I don't buy stuff for myself often because my daughter is still in "mega outgrow mode". She's more fun to dress up anyways.

ok i am bra fit certified and well they say the tape measure lies but the truth is every bra fits differnt i would go with you band size(32) the find a cup that you feel comfortable with. the way you measure for a bra only really works for a very small percentage of girls. plus the kinda bra you girls are talking about are contor to hide the general anatomy of your breasts but if you go into buy a bra don't let them pressure you tell them what you want and that if you don't like what they bring you you will not buy it

Ok so I read everyone's posts and I feel for you! I have the same problem as most of you. My cup size is between a C and a D. Generally C's are too small and D's are too big. BUT I did find bras I love from *drum roll* Wal Mart! I went into shops like Lazenza and boutiques and got measured but they didnt fit right and they were uncomfortable. So one day my underwire broke and I needed a quick bra so I went to Wal Mart (which is 5 minutes away) and spent 2 hours trying on an endless amount of bras in different sizes and styles and I found a line that I really like. It's called "Curvation" and it's only for plus sizes. The smallest cup is a C and it goes up to a DD or DDD (not sure). But the thing is it offers a lot of good support, it's seamless, super soft, and it comes in cute colours (mine are bright pink, some are nude, black, white...) The straps are wide and "padded" so that they don't cut in to you and they offer a lot of good support under the breast itself (because I had the problem where my breasts would "pop out" of the bottom of the cup sometimes. But these fit nicely and are comfy so I dont have that problem anymore.

And they dont look granny: they have no patterns and are very simple, and my personal favorite the cups are "thick" or "padded" just enough so that even if it gets cold there is no chance of seeing anything stick out...

so here's a link to a picture of a model for curvation:

Also because of their sleek design (and because they are covered in a silky soft material they dont leave any seams under your shirt.

If you're popping out the bottom of the cup then you need a smaller band size my love. Unless it was an old bra and the elastic had gone. Not sure. But glad you found one that fits well Happy

@Intersellar ~ Seeing as you're bra fit certified I'm going to ask some questions Happy sorry Tongue Isn't the bit between the cups suppose to fit flush against the rib cage/chest? In ALL bras, that never happens for me Happy If I go down a band size the bra cuts into my back... Now I've not got much meat on my bones but this creates a tyre/roll where my bra sits.... Any suggestions?

I'm smaller in the back than in the chest so I get side spillage. How weird am I? What's worse is how weird the fit is of a 32DD bra. They just don't know how to put all of that cup in something so small.

@ ruby - well they are supposed to be flat mine never do either but i have odd ribs (i'm pigeon chested)as long as it fits well ( bra should be at the same level all the way around not hiked up in the back, you should be able to slide your fingers into the back with out being too tight or to loose if you can move your hand it is too tight) i would not worry. the problem with the overall guidelines is that they don't take into account that we are all different

The last time I was measured for a bra they told me I should be wearing an Acup. So trying one on, if I remember corectly, my nipples were barely covered by the bra and it was very small in the chest(band). Anyway I go between wearing 34B or 32C so far has been working.

@ Lo Ever been to a 'real botuique bra shop'? I was at one the sports bra I looked at was $135CD which would have been half my paycheck. Lasenza and Liv an Rose are basic bra shops to me now. 'cause I only buy the 4 for $25 deal or what ever ^.^

I'm new to this whole bra shopping thing, but I'm having a similar problem. I seem to be a 36D now, even though my boobs don't look that big. If I get a C, it doesn't cover me properly. But last night I borrowed my friend's which was a 34DD and it fit fine. Hmm!

My friend Lizzie has problems because she's TINY, like a size 0 and she has C cup boobs. She looks amazing but she can never get clothes in her size.
