Maybe it's time for a new medicine. I'm currently on Lexapro and I have no side effects from it. I didn't have side effects from any of the numerous anti-depressants I've been on except Effexor. Zoloft worked really well for me, but I was on it so many years that it stopped working. Anti-depressants are totally trial and error and you have to find out what works best for you, but you can definitely find something that won't make you a zombie.

I used zoloft and it was great, besides the ridiculously vivid nightmares.... but i guess thats not too common...? :-P dont let this dissuade you from using zoloft if you dont otherwise have a personality that is prone to nightmares, etc. Happy

i used zoloft for years and it helped a lot--no side effects that i can think of, other than the one described above! Happy

Hi Michelle. I really feel for you sweetie. It is so difficult to keep up with ordinary life when you have disturbed sleep patterns.
I haven't been on the meds you are taking but have taken Venlafaxin in the past....it didn't work for me though as I ground my teeth while sleeping and broke 4 of them.
I'm taking amytriptiline, high does of co-codamol, diclofenac and tramadol in high doses at the moment so I can relate to tiredness.
I hope you have settled with your new dose and feel more balanced. It takes a while so be kind to yourself and patient. We're here for you to vent at ;D

Haha Sheila, I'm on amytriptiline and tramadol at the moment, as well as citalopram and ibuprofen, so I'm pretty much constantly exhausted. It's frustrating, I normally like to be doing stuff but I'm just lying on the sofa all day!

Knitting Kitten...I feel for you sweetie. Exhaustion is way beyond tired. I'm taking so many meds that I sometimes forget what I've taken. I took my sleeping tablet at work at lunch time by accident and had to go home early. I have to laugh at myself ;)
There's a Sheila shape moulded into my sofa where I 'rest' too.
It's hard to explain to people who don't feel the kind of tireness you have what it is like. It gets to a stage where even getting up and dressed is a strain for me. I have pj days...LOL
Dust stays were it is for a few days and other people have to do the dishes.
I'm at the stage where I do what I can, rest a while, do a bit more, rest again. It's slow going but helps.
I started to set small goals so I don't disapoint myself...LOL
I hope things settle down for you. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about the doseage and mix of your meds to see if they can be tweaked.

This is only temporary...I'm taking a lot of painkillers and things while recovering from surgery. The Citalopram is from before that. Yeah it's hard to explain to people that you're not lazy. My mum keeps pestering me to pack fr uni, and I keep trying to tell her that I need to do it in my own time, a little bit now and then.

I explain it like I have 6 tokens of energy to spend in a day. If I do stuff in one go in the morning I use 3. It doesn't leave much for later. If I do bits at a time I might only use 1.
The problem is when you get to the end of the day, you've used all 6 and borrowed 2 from tomorrow!!!
