It says plain as day "I accept that all text and uploaded images are my own work" when posting a project. Doesn't matter if she's old enough to know better or not, you can't post a project without putting a check in that box. But yeah Ruby, I don't get it either!!

Ok, I have just signed up here- not done anything (faves, lists, friends, even put a picture up) - am I going to be frowned on if I do that stuff before I post a how-to? It sounds from some of the posts here like it's not the done thing to some people, but it might take me a while to get round to doing a how-to. I don't want to annoy anyone! (and I weren't going to nick anyone's ideas and post them as my own, honest!)

Hey Becky,
I personally don't think it is a problem for someone without a how-to or project to add faves, lists, friends, or etc. I don't believe this is what the other ladies on this post were talking about.
They are simply disgusted, and with good reason, at the people who create fraudulent how-to's and projects. So, take your time in creating your how-tos and projects but make sure you are posting your creations. Not someone elses. ^_^
Hope this helps.

Ah, thanks, maybe this shouldn't've been the first thread I read, lol, got me a bit paranoid, y'know?!
I'll try to get started on a how to (all my own!) asap anyway!

Becky I only have one How-To and I have about 5 or so Pop Art Creations, yet I have been made very welcomed by the CO+K Community (many of whom comment in this thread) so that isn't the major issue here. Some individuals may frown upon that but I would ignore it because it is in the minority of people here.

I can't believe people are still doing this. The thing I find most unbelieveable is how they think they are going to get away with this... I feel like saying do these people have no consciences as they must know what they are doing is wrong!!

Whilst I agree with most of what you're all saying, I think it's a bit unfair to slate people for posting "basic" projects. Some of us only have very limited craft skills or are learning new skills and so whilst you may think, for example, my knitted scarf is "too basic" to be on this website, I'm really proud of it!

Blue G: I agree with you because I only have limited basic crafting skills myself. BUT as I and others have said, this is not the problem. The problem we are discussing about is when someone steals a crafting project from someone else - pictures and all - and try to pass it off as their own.

yes, thats what we rant about. if its your project, post it. If it belongs to some one else, don't

Becky sorry,it wasnt my intention to scare anyone away from this site!I would never-ever say anything hurtful on anyones project no matter how basic it is if its their own.I know how we love all of our projects, something that you created with your own hands is always precious and I would never say anything to hurt someone.
I even love all my amigurumi fails, just because its created by me with my own hands. Happy

The problem we are talking about is when someone steals a project and says its his own.
And I wrote to the girl with the beaded curtain,so this is not talking behind her back.

So Becky dont worry your projects and how to's are very welcomed-this is what this site is about. Happy

I get that Lolly Bot, but if you read back through the thread, some people ARE saying that you shouldn't put up basic projects that they don't feel are worthy. Hang on, I'll have a look who said it.

Heather C said "yea it gets to me too. actually what drives me nuts is when people post a "tutorial" for a project but it's more of an idea for something. also when the projects is soooooo simple, i think to myself, "really, do we need a tutorial for that?" . there have been some projets that make me raise my eyebrows but i never say anything. i just hate to see the spirit of this website be marred by stuff like this. "

Then Creative Mind said "To be honest though, I hardly ever check the projects anymore because of this and I also agree with Heather about posting something that's not really post worthy as a project. "

I'm now worried my stuff isn't really post-worthy.

Well I wouldn't worry about that, not many people think it. We are all different, for what some think as simple others might not. I wouldn't take it to heart <3

Yeah, the whole point of the site is to share what you make, and to share how to make it.

Not share what someone else did.

I am seeing a lot of people finding tutorials on other sites, and making their own how-to's on here using others tutorials and then using google images in the how-to.

If your going to steal someone else's how to at least actually make the ding dang project!
