Panic attacks

I know a number of people that have taken these and have had good results so good luck with these. I am not sure of all the circumstances and forgive me if I am speaking out of turn but I am wondering if it would be better to tell your parents and your boyfriend as you may need as much support as you can get right now. If your nearest and dearest know almost everything you are going through they will be in a much better position to support you. However you know them and I am sure whatever you decide to do will be the right thing for you. But sometimes people can surprise you.

I hope that you continue to make some positive progress from now on.

All the best. x

I told my mum and she almost cried and really, really isn't happy about it but I said that I feel I need to do this and she backed off. And when I told my boyfriend, he just went "Oh, right" in this way that sounded like he expected me to say more haha.

My mum had a similar reaction too - it felt as if she thought it was an over reaction or something but once she realised how serious things had got she was okay with it. I think parents (my mums been a nurse since she was 17) come from a generation when psychiatric medication was ladened down with lots of nasty side affects and it was pretty obvious that people on the medication were 'on something'. Medication has changed a lot though and I've been on prozac and had no side affects at all. Unfortunately even on a high dose it wasn't really touching the sides as far as the depression and anxiety went but some of my clients are on it and its literally been a life saver.

I have panic attacks too and was also prescribed antidepressants. They didn't help though. I stopped taking them after a while. But it's not that big of an issue for me though because the panic attacks I have are rare/very infrequent. I know they are related to stress so I just try not to worry so much about stuff. I think counseling/therapy is the best way to go. Anything that helps with the stress.
