Hey- congratulations!

I am currently also wedding planning, I found this book invaluable (I got it from my local library but here it is on amazon):
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0806958057/carrollcountypub

I think it might be useful to you because it has themes 'Romantic' and 'Boho', both of which have fairies, flowers etc' in them.

One thing I am doing is getting old cut glass from charity shops, filling them with pebbles, coloured beads and shells, filling them with water and having overblown roses and floating candles in the water. Very easy but it looks quite effective, you could possibly change the colours and objects to make it more fairylike?

Also, celtic designs painted onto glass, mirrors or favours might be quite fairy-like. i was going to do this for my centrepieces but it didn't go with the whole chiffony Jane Austen thing (seriously am drowning in chiffon offcuts right now, everything's covered in it bridesmaids, bride even the cake!). It might work well with a slightly Arthurian fairy look though.

Hi all,

Sorry if you've read this on the other Wedding threads on here, but I wasn't sure where to post it! So I thought i'd go for all of them!

You might be interested in my latest blog post. I have just started a whole series on bespoke weddings and we are following the progress of one bride making her veil and other bits and pieces. In future wedding posts we will be including links to some cool wedding web sites we've found, top tips and ideas. If you would like to take a look please go to http://www.beadbarmy.com/

At my own wedding, I used sticks of rock for the table places with peoples names printed and wrapped round them. I made my own favour bags. We had The Beatles 'I will' as our music. I printed mini pages of the sheet music with our names and the date of the wedding on the reverse. I then rolled them up into little scrolls tied with ribbon. These went in the favour bags along with a couple of flying saucer sweets - cheap and we thought it'd make people nostalgic!

Cheers

Congrats on getting married! I'm getting married in September, and its a very DIY thing, so I've been looking at a lot of things online the last 6 months and I hope my suggestions help!

For decorations, I would suggest looking around this site:
http://www.save-on-crafts.com

They helped me SO much! They have silk vines to drape around (which I think would be lovely for your theme), and lots of natural branches and great looking artificial flowers and things for centerpieces. Their prices are really great, and their shipping is fast. (They also have tutorials scattered around the site, such as one for tying a bunch of different kinds of bows - that has helped me more than almost any other tutorial, ever!)

Also: check this site for some amazing ideas
http://offbeatbride.com/

I don't always like the way silk flowers look, but I refuse to spend tons of money on real ones - the best solution I've found so far? Lots of tissue paper and pipe cleaners. They're super easy to make (you can enlist your friends and make a little party out of it) and you can make them whatever size or color you choose. You can also make lots of different kinds. I bought vases at a thrift store, that are all different sizes and shapes, but all the same color, and then decorated them with ribbon, lace, and scrapbooking stickers. You can also dust the flowers with some pretty glitter to give them more of a "fairy" touch. (and you can use rhinestones for the centers of them - but maybe that's just me, I have a little bit of an addiction to anything sparkly!)

I think that strings of small white or blue or other pastel colored lights would look lovely, as well. Kind of a "fairy lights" sort of thing. I don't know what your budget is, but that save-on crafts site has some nice lights and fiber optic things. But if you're like me and not working with a huge budget, I think strings of holiday lights from Ebay would probably work just as well.

And finally... the ring you like is gorgeous! But if you can't get it right now, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The ring is just a physical, outward symbol of something much greater that you share with your fiance. You can always get a different one later, maybe for an anniversary? I have a simple engagement ring, and will be getting a simple wedding ring. I will eventually get something closer to my dream, but I do plan on keeping the original and wearing it on a different finger. =]

Good luck with everything!

I've been doing a wedding belles series on my beading blog. Since doing it i've found some absolutely brilliant sites with great ideas that prove that weddings don't have to be a big meringue frock and dancing to Chris De Burgh (God forbid!). Here's the link if you're stumped for ideas http://www.beadbarmy.com/2010/08/wedding-belles-some-gorgeous-sites-to-see/

We didn't get to do the fancy wedding, we just did a court wedding, but we are planning a 'faux' wedding to take pictures of, and a party for our friends and family to come to, because everyone was disappointed that we went broke just in time to not have a wedding.
