square peg

lately i just feel like i am the square peg trying to fit in the round hole. It's lonely being a square peg. all the round pegs are nice but square peg just sticks out a little too much. doesn't belong in the crowd really. any know this feeling? I've met a lot of nice ladies since I moved but haven't formed any close relationships and I feel lonely a lot. and i sort of feel like a loser....
I'm just a simple old fashioned gal. I don't like to go out to bars or clubs. I don't watch tv. I have a healthy lifestyle but I am not some fitness workout fiend. I don't wear make-up or follow fashion trends. maybe i am a bit of a nerd because i enjoy the off beat.
i can't be the only 20 something lady in the great state of new jersey that enjoys domestic everyday life of mommyhood and crafting. i am so simple maybe i am just boring? because instead of watching tv I make a collage and instead of spending time at the club I till a new garden bed?
sorry this is a bit of a ramble

so....where are all the other square pegs

This square peg knows exactly what you mean. I'm 20 and I don't party or watch tv at all. I rarely ever do "normal" 20 year old things. Even though everyone thinks I'm odd for it, I'm happy with my lifestyle. Be proud to be a square peg and dont ever feel like you must fit in. I don't think youre boring at all, I agree with Kiddo you're awesome! How boring it would be if we were all round pegs.

I would bet that most of the people here are square pegs in their own way. I don't do the mom thing but like you I hardly watch tv (sports excepted, which alone sets me apart from my friends lol). I don't enjoy shopping unless it's to rummage in charity shops or the hardware store (you can get awesome craft items in there). Not many girlfriends enjoy the hardware store=/

One day square pegs will rule the world you know - we haz skillz that the ordinary folk don't have;)

I'm another square peg. I can't do girly shopping, give me a charity shop and I'll be happy.

You're not the only one Heather! I enjoy shopping...in the discount bins at craft store, thrift shops, salvation army, savers!
I live right next too the mall area and the only reason i go near it is because Wal-mart, Joanne's, AC Moore and Michaels are in that area!
I'd rather spend the day in the park reading a book on a nice day, take a walk on the hiking trails in the area...craft my lil heart out on crappy rainy days, and if I could I'd be in the dirt planting flowers(can't plant at the place i live) and I dont go drinking, clubbing, etc
So it's not just you, i have one awesome friend who doesn't mind doing this but other than that I'm alone too...my other good friend who I'd be able to do this with is in Cali Happy
so I just live with it, and not worry about it...
i dont mind being a square peg! Happy

LOL at Sheila's comment...

I'm deffo a square peg. I can sorta do girlie shopping if I'm with my mate but it's not the kind where were giggling like idiots and we take in 100 pieces of clothing to try on. It's more like window shopping and we MIGHT buy something. But I only have 1 or two friends that really get me. I'm definatly drifting apart with my two Uni mates and I don't feel like I'm the same as the rest of society. But I don't mind because I'm not ashamed of who I am!!

thanks guys! I like who I am, I just wish I had a close friend to share with that lived near me. Also it would be nice if I could carry on a conversation with other women other than talking about our kids. I mean I LOVE my kids but I am more than a mom

Shelia~that's great! I'm loving that!
I hear you Heather~ The mom's that i hung around with for sometime either talked about the kid that was the same age, younger kids, or the older ones...there is only so much of listening about kids you can take!
Well Heather, I can always take a road trip this summer, your not too far from me! Happy
