Huh, not sure what to do.

Okay, so I'm a bit confused right now. My best friend wants me to go to prom with her and a group of mostly people I know, 15 people in all. She's a senior in high school and I'm supposed to be, but I left my junior year and got my GED, due to issues.

I had wanted to go to the senior prom but now that I'm not a student there, is it wrong to go? Some of my friends dates aren't from the school and I'm assured its not odd but I'm having doubts.

Whats your guy's opinions?

I would go.....

Better to regret something you have done than something you haven't. If you didn't go, you would spend forever wondering how good/how much fun/how bad it was.

IMHO

i agree, not sure where in the world you live but judging by american movies and stuff..."prom" is blown waaaaay outa proportion.(we just call it the matric dance) where i live(south africa) its really not that big a deal.i didnt even go to mine.i went to the one for the matric(senior) year before mine cause most of my friends were in that year. anyway,if people from other colleges are allowed and it'll be a group of your friends then i definately think you should go! especially if you'll be unhappy if you dontHappy and i agree with Kimmi Happy namaste

Hi Kirsten. I think it would be fun. We didn't have prom at my school. I left my school, moved away to college and then left the area totally so lost contact with all my friends. It's only in my 40's and after my daughter having prom that I realised there was no defining moment that I could say 'that's a door closing on a part of my life'. It's almost like a right of passage to be treated like an adult and marks the life change. I would go if I were you. Sounds like there will be people around you who will be supportive. Your friend doesn't want you to miss out.

You will have memories when you are older to look back on and everyone there is going there to have fun, just avoid anyone who may give you bad vibes. You've been out in the real world for a while now so you have built up life skills they might not have while they have been studying. If anyone makes you feel uncomfortable just say 'Education only tells you how to spell experience'.

Go, have a brilliant time Happy

I would say go. Try not to think of it as prom, try to think of it as a good night out with your group of friends if you still fel weird about it.
But like you said, you're mates are bringing complete strangers, at least you USED to go there!!

Besides you may regret not going, missing out on going to the "prom". It's made a bit of a big thing in America, its better to regret going then to regret not going.
