Hi. I would totally recommend that you get your neck/back checked for alignment if you haven't done so already. I suffered with migraines for a few years they were really bad and I had all the symptoms - sensitivity to light, dizziness, extreme tiredness, vomiting, intense pain that no pain killers would relieve - then I finally went to my doctor who happened to check my spine and found that it was out. I've since found out I have a weak spot in my upper back which when it goes it triggers a domino effect up my neck which then presses on one of the nerves in my neck and causes the migraines. Now when I feel one coming on I just go to my Osteo who clicks everything back into place and I'm pain free within a matter of minutes. I know that other things can trigger migraines but if you are having trouble pinpointing the cause, your spine might be something to have checked. Good luck. Happy

The herbal remedy Feverfew is supposed to help, but it's never worked for me. It does work for some, so maybe it's worth trying.
The only thing I find that relieves the pain just slighly is Solpadeine ( soluble paracetemol and codeine mix)
My migraines can be brought on by oranges, so I don't eat them at all, although I can eat tangerines, satsumas, grapefruit etc, with no ill effects
The other thing that brings on my migraines is lack of sleep.

My mom and sis have suggested going to a chiropractor. IDK, it's something to try, I will mention it to my doctor and if he can recommend someone.

The best thing is to find out what sets them off and take the steps to avoid whatever it is. Mine are stressed induced. Caffeine is my drug, Excedrin works the best. I've also heard anti nausea medicine works.

I used to get them at least twice a week. They were always with neck and shoulder pain, eye strain and nausea. I don't know why, but I haven't had another since my son was born. I think it could be associated with high blood pressure. I had high blood pressure before getting pregnant. *on a side note, this is the reason I have my son. ;) I tried getting birth control but they wouldn't prescribe me until my bp was lower. While I was cutting out salt and caffene...I got pregnant.* lol

Anyways, sometimes the only thing that helps me is if I throw up. If my stomach is settled, I get to feeling better a lot faster. I think it (my migraines) has something to do with either my hormones, or either the blood pressure thing. You should get it checked out.

I get them all the time thanks to rare medical problems I have. When I get them I just take Tylenol and sleep it off in a dark room. A cold compress on your head works too. That's about it. Maybe it'll work for you too.

My fiance has suffered for YEARS as has my father. Both crippled at points in their lives several times a week.

My father has tried everything even surgery to improve his breathing. Now he has a drug which he takes the second he feels it coming on.

My Fiance has changed to a healthier diet and his life circumstances has de-stressed and his headaches.. have faded.. not gone away mind you.. but reduced incredibly.

i find that excedrin migraine+nap=relief.... usually.

if you all dont have excedrin in your countries, it is basically acetaminophen+aspirin+"therapeutically active caffeine", whatever that means.

also, native americans have traditionally chewed on willow swatches for pain relief; its the natural form of aspirin.

Sex. May seem silly but the endorphins from it make your head ache go away.

I wish you luck. I don't know of any. I get optical migranes mostly. Their cause because of my eyes, bright lights, strobes, and such. Sleep only helps me. Maybe some tea though? My sister drinks a cup when one starts up and she thinks the caffeine helps mostly

I used to get wicked optical migraines every evening between 7 and 8. They were super debilitating, my head felt like it was too "full", my eyeballs felt like the were being pushed outta my head, and I had sensitivity to light. I was about to go get drugs from the doc to fix me up, and I just happened to mention my headaches to a friend. She told me that she had the same migraines and a coworker suggested vitamin B-12, since it promotes healthy brain activity and stuff. She said her migraines disappeared after a few days of taking it . She said she didn't care if it was a placebo affect or if it was actually working, but her migraines disappeared.

I started taking it a few days later and mine have gone away too. Like she said, whether it is a placebo affect or this stuff is actually working, but I don't care. I got mine from Sprouts, it kind of looks like a smartie hehehe.

My story may be biased because of my lifestyle and health, but since this is just a vitamin I thought I'd share. A few factors that I would guess this worked so well for me are: I'm a vegetarian, so I already lack in B vitamins already. I wear glasses (although I recently had a check up, so this reeeally shouldn't matter). I also have some pretty horrible allergies to dust and pollen with reactions varying from horrible sneezing fits, to chronic red-eye, to headaches.

Hope this was helpful Happy

PS I agree that lavender makes me feel better when I have minor headaches. I bought a really wonderful sleep mask full of lavender and it is wonderful Happy
