Update on what Israel is doing!!! :-D :

* Delegation is scheduled to depart this evening at 20:00, arrive in Haiti on Friday and open hospital on Saturday.
* Delegation prepared to treat trauma patients, and the IDF is currently preparing and loading all of the necessary medical cargo.
* IDF will set up a field hospital with a surgical room.
* 121 medical staff including 40 doctors, a gynecologist, pediatrician, and other medical specialists.
* 100 additional personnel
* Field hospital will be able to treat 500 people a day, and between 40-50 emergency care patients
* Field hospital expected to be in the area of the capital, Israeli delegation which departed yesterday currently coordinating so that aid may be delivered effectively.
* IDF delegation currently planning to stay for 2 weeks.
* The size of this delegation is roughly the same as the one the IDF sent to Buhj, India in 2001 after the earthquake there.

The large field hospital established by the IDF Medical Corps at 10 a.m. Shabbat local time was already treating dozens of patients four hours later, when its commander, Lt.-Col. Dr. Itzik Reiss, was able to take a breather and speak to Israeli health reporters via a conference call.

The hospital has an emergency room, pediatric, orthopedic, internal medicine, obstetrics and surgery departments, clinics and other facilities. The delivery room and premature baby unit are prepared to function but have not yet received any women or infants.

The whole situation sadden me and my heart goes out to all those in Haiti. I'm like many of the others, I didn't post because I don't usually say much about these things online, but have talked about in other means. When things like this happen it does make me upset and I want to find ways to help. I will definitely check out the website that craftalicious posted, that sounds like a great idea.

I recently was reading how children who were ready to be adopted in Haiti, who already had adopted parents ready to take them in, may now not get the chance or that it will take years to process because all the paper work is now under piles of rumble.

Rachie- that's great what Israel is going to do for Haiti

I heard about that, Canada is trying to get those childern Canadians tried to adopt over to Canada, the parents that already had papers and were only waiting for the childern. They are also plan on finding (canadian) relatives of those in Haiti, to bring them over.

how do you feel about this?

It's hard for me to place how I really feel about that one, but my gut says that they should have dropped off the aid and then found an alternate destination for their vacationers.

On the other hand, if all the cruises found alternate destinations, there would be even less income for the Haitians, and they need it now more than ever.

See, so I'm divided on that one.

I know, but this is a private owned beach, they bought it from haiti, so Haiti doesn't recieve anything from it. The passengers were also divided on it.
