knowing what to do when you grow up
Hey guys I am almost 30 years old and I still don't know what to do with my life? I don't have a job right now and for the last few years have been fighting depression. That could be why I wasn't doing so well when I had a job, it was like I just lose intrest.
My depression is better now, I want a job but I did train as a graphic designer, but can't seem to find a job with it, almost two years out of school.
I guess right now I will be happy with any job that will help pay off my student loans. (I went to uni from 1999-2001)
I had a talk with my counselor about that. Rather than asking for my grades/skills she asked me about my common interests. I've always had a passion for animals and it lead up to thinking about zoology.
My suggestion is find something you enjoy the most and indulge in it. Sounds hard during this economy, but if it's something you really like than it's worth it no matter why.
You know... unless it's like indulging in drugs... or killing anyone... XD
hahaha, yeah, that might take it too far.
hey girl, i don't know what i want to do either!!!! I went to school to become a pastry chef but now i am staying at home raising my kids. I would like to work as a pastry chef or cake decorater but right now i really feel like i need to be home for my babies. i feel like i am lucky that i don't HAVE to work right now. (although i do feel a little stir crazy once in a while!) and even when my kids are in school and i can go back to work i'm not sure if it will be in a kitchen. i mean i love to bake but not sure if that lifestyle will mesh with my family. it's just a lot of time and commitment, weekends and holidays. but i ahve always wanted to run my own tea room. or chocolate store, or ice cream shop. and i kinda want to have a little farm, and own a bed and breakfast. and of course it would totally rock if i could run my etsy shop full time and make toys all day. hahaha oh and i've always wanted to learn to be a florist as well!
maybe you could find a job in a craft shop? or work at a store you shop at a lot. that would be cool because then you could get a discount. haha maybe you could find a place were if you don't like your job your could change departments? i worked at a hotel for a long time and in 2 years time i had worked in every department then decided i didn't like working at a hotel. anyway no ones says that once you take a job you are stuck there forever. find some place to work that you think you will enjoy and not so much how much money it pays. (although i do feel for you, as culinary school was NOT cheap, and i pay a lot in students loans every month!)
I really wish school wasn't so expensive, to go to university its almost 10,000 a year(and thats small tution) I was lucky I didn't get a full student loan, only tution.
Im 22 and I dont know what to do with myself either.I finished medical school, but I realysed that I dont want to do that.I love piercings and decorating my body,I dont look "normal" so If I want to work at a hospital I have to change entirely the way I look and who I am.So I refuse to do that, but Im starting to go crazy at home.I cant find any job that interests me,I cant find any job at the time.I would love to learn to be a piercer, but we dont have a school for that here,I love to make dreads and Im good at it,but there is really just a few people who are interested in dreads. No hairsalon wants to give me a job.I would love to go to school, but there is no school on hungarian that whould interest me just on serbian. And I tried going to school on serbian,I dont know the language enough. So...Im starting to get really depressed abouth this...
Michelle, I am the same. I have several interests but nothing stands out. I don't want to pay a lot of money for school when I'm not a 100% sure or at least 90% lol.
Heather C. I used to work at a bakery and decorated cakes all the time. It's fun yet stressful..but I've kinda always wanted to own a cupcake shop. Nothing but cupcakes!
Violetta, there aren't any piercing schools but you can go to a tattoo shop and ask for an aprenticeship. Some ppl will charge you and some wont.
yeah I went to Uni to study History, bad idea, just because I had a 90 average in in during high school does not mean you will do well in uni. I flunked out, had a 2.4 GPA in uni. Sucked big time
Michelle, I can help you a little with figuring out what you could do. Could you list 10 professions for me that you would love to do, regardless if they are achievable? What would you want to do if you could be anything in the world, even a high priest among the Inca's to mention something crazy. I'm not telling you what I'm gonna do with them yet, it will spoil the exercise. Anyone who wants to can join in this actually. Feel free to list your 10 most interesting jobs.
Oh, I wanna try this Marieke.
