CURSES to craft tools that injure u!!!

I was making a pine cone into skiing santa (from a how to) last night. And I was using my Super hot glue gun (had been heating so long a glue drop tower had formed in the dish). I put a thick coating of glue on a strip of fur and as i went to turn it over and stick it to my pine cone...YEEEOOOUCH!!!!! It Stuck to my middle finger!!! I ripped it off as quick as I could, realizing , much to my horror, the glue was so hott it couldnt be wiped away yet, it would need to cool a bit!!! (some of the most intensely painful 2 sec of my life)Then as i wiped away the glue...and about a inch long half inch wide strip of 3 layers of flesh from my finger< i wimpered like a sissy and ran around freakishly waving my hand in the air saying ahhahhahhh!!! And to day half my finger looks like raw pork chop thats been tenderized a bit! IT HURTS!!!! Not to mention Im at a most crucial time in my craft stream. 7 gifts down 13 to go, plus prepare for a yard sale at my moms and get some kind of santa costumes together by 2morrow nite for the running of the santas! OY VEIGH!!!! So any advice about careing for burns over past the "first aid" stage? I knew what 2 do last night... cold water, 3antibiotic ointment, wrap loosely, ice,...add lots of RUM! but what now???

Yow! I have done that before but not quite as bad! I hope you feel better and can get back to your craftyness. And next time maybe wear some gloves?

I ve had run in with my glue gun before, but never like this! I tried gloves before but they didnt allow me any dexterity and also i kept glueing stuff to them.

Ouch that sounds NASTY, that is EXCATLY why I never wanted to use hot glue guns at school as a kid, and why I would never want to use them now as an adult. That kinda stuff freaks me out!! I hope you are feeling better soon and that it doesn't stop you crafting!!

I burn myself on them all the time, just never that bad. It wouldn't stop me from crafting, I know cause I done it before, stuck a bandaid on and continued

i would also like to curse felting needles. to those of you who have never seen one, it is a long, barbed needle which is extremely sharp. i stabbed my finger with one and it was sore for days!

Ever sit on a double pointed knitting needle? Definitely makes you respect the crafting supplies. Happy

similar thing happened to me... almost 1.5 months ago i broke my finger at the handball match. And it was on my birthday! What an irony... Well that day I had to clean my room, make invitations for birthday party... And the worst thing was that my finger was so swollen that I had to go to the hospital. I spent the birthday night in hospital. A few days ago i removed the plaster and this finger still hurts me. :'/ I can play handball, and i have probelms when it comes to getting dressed up..
You should ask your friends for help and certainly avoiding carrying heavy things, and loading this finger.
Hope you get better soon. ;)
