I hate Ikea

A couple of weeks ago we bought 5 Billy book cases. That week they had a 25% discount on the whole Billy series. The doors for those were temporarily sold out they said. Mmm, we called before we came and they had lots in store they said... Anyway, we bought the book cases and decided to come back for the doors. So far I went there 4 times and everytime they didn't have the stupid doors. Even though I called in advance and I was assured they were available.

Today I called to ask if they could put them aside for me. The don't do that but i felt this was an exeption they should make. It's an hour drive to Ikea and for Dutch standards that's really long.

But they absolutely refuse to do that. I just have to keep trying and hoping that one day when I come the stupid doors are there. <insert lots of angry words here>

Why call your callcenter a customer service center if you're not gonna deliver any kind of service??

I always write and document who I spoke to at the store. Then I'd also write how many time you had been- cost of you miles and time.Highlight the environmental impact of you wasted journey.Send the whole trail to head office -copying the store manager.

That's not a bad idea Essex Debs

I agree with Heather, I <3 Ikea's but even here in England their customer services are shite and I still don't understand why they sell stuff without doors or door knobs?? WTF??

I really went of Ikea for similar reasons. We were going to get a bed there and we went there, had a good trawl through what they had, found one we liked. We spoke to one of the staff about their delivery and and they gave us the details to give at the till. We did that and they asked wheres the bed. We didn't bring the bed as we were given the details by the other staff member and not told that we actually had to hike the whole bed over to the till to pay for it just for them to put it somewhere else to deliver. You apparently can't pay for something with just the code even though they don't actually scan the bed they just like to see you try and hump a great big double bed base on one of there silly trollies over to the till so they can say 'oh yes thats a bed and then scan in the details of the card thing we were given. It was stupid. The queues are massive so we just abandoned the whole bed thing and they were so inflexible and unhelpful. I haven't gone back. I also remember it was Dwayne who 'served' us - its etched in our memories Happy lol.

HAHAHA, not good memories then. Good thing you abandoned them then, I must admit their stuff is pretty but things like sofa's and bed's are a definate NO-NO they are so flimsey, you'd have ended up taking it back because it broke just putting the duvets and pillows on it lol...

The only problem about hating Ikea is: I really love Ikea... They have lots of nice things and it's cheap. I just assembled this cupboard I bought last week:

What a Shitty sevice! I had a similar experience with Ikea Netherlands, buying my curtains. Went there after being assured the stupid things would be in stack. Of couse they weren't. BUT here's the good thing: they wanted to pay(? iig een deel vergoeden) my fuel (shame i came by public transport, 2 hour ride with bus and train) I got a free meal there and they gave me a bigger curtain that i could shorten myself for te price of the smaller one.
Which Ikea did you go to? I went to Heerlen...

Yay, more Dutchies! And Michelle counts as half a Dutchie too ;)

I usually go to Amsterdam or Groningen but when the billy bookcase was on sale I went to Utrecht. Same problems everywhere. After I bought the bookcases I checked the website daily for stock information. I checked 5 shops and none of them had enough of the stupid doors the whole special offer week.
