I think kids should be kids, in this doc there is a 9 year girl who wear contacts and had plastic surgy at 7. The parents are mad.

Gosh.. Kids shouldn't have to go through that during their childhood.

A girl in my class used to do pagents when she was about 4 or 5. So she acts all high and mighty because she used to be a pagent winner. Seems like most of these girls grow up thinking they are better than others.

These things always sound like a recipe to f***ing your child up!!! I saw something about this a few years ago on Clive James' programme (something we used to have in the UK) and it just looks too crazy to be true. Did anyone see the bit in Bruno where he's interviewing the parents of child actors? That looked worryingly real and left the same nasty taste in my mouth. Children aren't meant to be worrying about looking good as 7. They're meant to be making mud pies and sticking things up their noses and playing with boxes Happy (or was that just me? lol).

It totally makes messed up kids, kids who are used to everyone catering too them because they can turn, wave and smile pretty. Making it to be a beauty queen and Miss World, the odds are about the same as making the olympics or a professional sports team. Being pretty will really really only get you so far, being stuck up because you've been told you're pretty your whole life will screw up any other advancements you might make. I also hate how they hyper sexualize the young girls in the show.

I do think beauty pageants are fine when you are a teen or adult and making your own decisions, and I am sure they will teach girls of an older age how hard work will pay off, just like athletics do. But I really think that pushing a child that young, and not letting them be a kid isn't necessarily the best thing to do. I do think the youngest girl who is poor was probably one of the few girls that really understood the pageant and what she could do with it, and that comes with a maturity above her age. You could tell her mom wasnt pushing her like the others were, it was the girl's decision, and her mom was supporting her more than anything. I dont agree with the amount of money needed for the pageants either, because it gives people with money a waaay bigger advantage.

Ps. Arty, you arent alone in making mud pies and sticking things up your nose. Happy

The second mom was definitely passing on her physical insecurities to her child...really unfortunate.

I know, I really think Sashas mom had a good head on her shoulders, for her it was to get sasha over her esteem problems and it was for fun. The first two moms were nuts. living their lifes through their childern

yeh this is sick and the girls look bloody weird with all that make up on

making her sing hey big spender, that is disgusting and it would help if they could actually sing. Plastic surgery at 7! babies have baby skin! they're still growing gaaawd it's horrible. It's all about the parents and the money!

lets all go watch Little Miss Sunshine to make us feel better.
