oh I KNOW QUEEN! [about the men being the breadwinners]. In america, at the average job, a woman gets paied 89 cents to the mans dollar, FOR THE EXACT SAME WORK! They say "equal rights", HA!

It makes me angry, BUT LUCKILY, in retail, they cannot do that Happy AWESOME Happy

I think I'm going to start selling some of my crafts [and after I ask permission, sell some crafts inspired by crafts showcased here ! Happy ]

OH, BECAUSE OF MY JOB, I bought my first resin Happy Its working out okay I suppose. Its awesome, but I'm still a noobie, so... lol.

grrr so aaangry about the 'equal rights' thing, some companies are funny about hiring women, whole 'glass ceiling' thing, women can see the job they want but can't get it because the employer is worried about them being off to have babies...dog eat dog and all that!

I got a reply from one of those jobs I applied to, didn't get it! At least they replied and I tried to phone about the life guard thing but the number wouldn't work so I'm gonna phone this place and ask for this guy I was given the name of, but I'll do that tomorrow because I can't be bothered!

I'm really worried that when I come out of uni it's gonna be hard for me to get a job because I want to have a baby quite early.

It was nice of them to reply, I hate when places don't.

And yeah, there's "equal rights", but there are so many loopholes it's ridiculous

Mike got a job 3 months after he finished Uni Happy mind you it is an office job..I dunno what you want to do at uni! if it's something artistic make contacts and connections NOW.

I'm doing English lit and media, so maybe I'll get a job in journalism. In which case I know one person, which is a start. And I meant really that women don't get jobs as easily because of babies, and I want a baby before I'm 25 so that might be a problem.

I guess you just find a way to deal with it, get family to look after them after school and all that...I want one when I'm 25, I can't wait to knit them things! Mike has a friend who has worked for magazines like Total Film or Empire, one of those he even had a hot fuzz review in one and he's met lots of famous people. I'd love to do journalism too but I'm just not very keen on Uni and erm DOGGIES! Want to work with them more. When I learn to drive I might go into the RSPCA but after the animal rescue programme I watched this afternoon I really have changed my mind! Dead fox Happy

After trawling through all the career sites and job guide book (had to pick subjects for year 11 so our teachers wanted us to know what occupation we wanted to do) I have decided on 4 different occupations and the subjects I chose should be able to get me into any one of them, they jobs are- Phychologist, Market Researcher, Economist and Industrial Relations Officer. Depending on how my last 2 years of school go I'll probably be even more concrete on which path I'll take.

Shivi and Izzy, my brother has autism too, he's 16 and just started college, and has a heart of absolute gold.

I need to get a full time job, at the moment I have a casual job working festivals but its hard hard work for not much money, I just worked Reading and I did 15 hour shifts for £5 an hour but I did get to see bands! I've only got one event left this year though Happy

OHH QUEEN THATS AWESOME! I know your last job fell through. I'LL KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED!

And wow... Rosie and Shivi and Izzy. Its actually quite a huge coincidence! I am an only child, but my friends brother has Autism as well. I don't see him much, because its slightly awkward. He has a ... crush on me I suppose, and he doesn't realize that ... staring at someone is kind of creepy.

I'm not afraid at all, and I understand completely that it isn't his fault, he just doesn't realize, but still, I think its just less awkward for everyone [nicluding my friend] if I don't really hang around him a lot.

I just phoned the vets because I didn't give a reference so I gave one over the phone and the woman said loads of people have applied but hopefully my phone manner and the fact that i phoned as well as applied via email will help them decide whether or not to give me an interview Happy aaaaah I want it so much! thanks dis (I'm an only child too) Happy

dis.ar.ray, you need to actually say if you find it uncomfortable, and many many teenage boys stare inappropriatly without being autistic!
its vital for young people with autism to learn social behavaiour (or how to appropriatly respond to it) while they are still young, and if you don't bring it to their attention they won't know they're doing anything wrong!
dont just avoid him, that'll make him feel isolated, and your friend will feel more awkard still, maybe you could suggest to your friend that they (or one of their parents)could try to explain to him.

Max has gotten into a real habit of putting his hands down his pants in public. He occasionally runs off to do it cause he knows that he gets told off if he does. Someone really needs to talk to him about it.

My brother does the same thing, except he doesn't understand embarrassment so he'll just do it wherever. It's getting really annoying to have to keep saying "Hands out" and "Thats not appropriate" every 5 minutes. Hopefully we'll get through to him eventually though so all of our reppetition will be worth it.

Anyway, the point of this post...

I just applied for a job in the pet section of a local garden centre. I really really hope I get it because this job would be PERFECT for me. It's only 7 hours a week, I get to work with animals which I'll enjoy and it'll give me good experience for my future career (I want to do some sort of hands on work with animals), one of my closest friends already works there and so do a load of other people I know from college, and I'll be able to get a lift with my friend because his shift is at the same time as mine.
So yeah, fingers crossed hoping that I get an interview!
