What's everyone been up to?

Sorry I've been MIA - it was the film festival here and I spent almost every waking moment in a screening or meeting people. What's the gossip? What did I miss? I'm so behind on the Sewing Bee.

Loving Alaska.Just been beach combing in Homer picking up metal pieces for a new mermaid.Have been water-coloring as we go.Seriously need to catch up on the blog but have loads of new adventures to share. As I sit there are about 70 sea otters rafting in the bay and a family of bald eagles enjoying a halibut.

Ooh Alaska sounds fun! I'd love to go there sometime. I'm working with a theater company on a production of the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid over the summer, and we've *FINALLY* started on the actual costume construction. My first assignment construction-wise is to hand stitch 1500ish large sequins to the leggings for Ariel's main costume. I have ~130 on so far. Since the pants are very fitted and very stretchy, and the thread is that thin plastic "invisible" thread with *NO* stretch at all, I'm anchoring each sequin individually rather than sewing them on in a string. I don't mind though, I love hand sewing and I'm awesome at it, so I'm glad I get to do such an important job myself. I can get each sequin on in less than 60 seconds already, including time to clip threads and tie off a new knot. I get to make a fat suit for Louie the chef next, I can't wait! Smile Shock

@EssexDebs Alaska sounds absolutely beautiful. Very jealous of all the wildlife you're seeing.

@catmorley I don't feel so bad for being off for awhile now that I see that you've been busy. I feel like this is the first chance I've had to sit down in awhile. Glad you all are well!!

Yeah don't feel bad @trumocha2 - the summer is always such a busy time, it's hard to craft and cook as much but I have a million new ideas I want to work on when things calm down. Sewing
