Asian inspired dinning room ideas

My dinning room has a Asian inspired theme to it - well sort of. Im looking for some ideas of things i can make to keep it with in the theme. Im lacking decor for this room and i figured the cheapest way would be to make it. Any ideas for wall hangings , cool things i can put on a shelf or something cool i can make with house hold items , glue, etc. lol

Orchid always add a touch of asian feel! You can always pick up a few fake ones and make your own small arrangement Happy

Also the fastest way to bring a dining room look together is with a table cloth and/or place mats! they have sooo many cool bamboo looking placemats at the stores these days! I even saw some really cute ones at the dollar store the other day. If you dont like place mats you can still buy/make two or three and place them end to end down the middle of the table like a runner, then add your flowers and maybe a few candles.

Asian style is usually pretty minimal, which is great when trying to decorate on a budget. My living room is the same theme! I bought a three pack of small canvas' from walmart and painted my own art for the walls! I kept it super simple and it really helps tie everything together.

Oh another cool thing I've seen is people will make those oragami kimonos, in a set of like three or four. With paper in colors that go along with their decor. And then they buy small picture frames for each one. Then hang then on the wall in a set! Or have you seen the "toilet paper wall art" project on the site? You could do that and paint them a cool color. If you were to make the flower pattern but bend the tip of each petal in towards its center, you could make them look like Sakura/Cherry Blossoms Happy

Hope that helps! If something didnt make sence, let me know and I'll try and explain it better <3 <3

ooooooh I forgot to say that you could make your own platemats with a bunch of chopsticks! I saw a project somewhere recently where they tied a bunch or chopsticks together in two different places and they made a placemat. It looked really cool and easy, you could very easily change it to be longer for a table runner too!

Maybe over the dining table try paper lanterns?

The Dollar tree has some inexpensive cute ones. White would lookw very nice and minimal.
Or if you have high ceilings what about hanging paper parasols

I just recently got bamboo placemats and they are amazing!

Maybe consider painting a cherry blossom design on the wall? I have heard that starch and thin fabric acts as a temporary wallpaper, if you aren't allowed to paint. Haven't tried it though.
