Your writing style

I heard of this from a friend of mine, I thought it was cool enough to share with you guys.

Its a program called "I Write Like". You pop in a bit of text from a paper, or blog, or anything you've written, and it tells you which famous author your writing style resembles most.

Here: http://iwl.me/

Every time I put something different in, my result was Vladmir Nabokov. Which is really flattering because he is one of my favorite authors!

I tried with three different blog posts and got Arthur Conan Doyle, Dan Brown and Stephen King. Guess it depends on my mood on the day=)

I don't have any blogs or anything like that, so I used most of my Covering Letters and apparently one of them was written like Margaret Atwood and the other was like Dan Brown.

With my inquiry paper, I got HP Lovecraft.
And, with all my creative writing assignments, I got Dan Brown.

Just for giggles I inserted an excerpt from Stephen King's "Cell".

This site totally nailed it. It guessed Stephen King. lol

I write like Steven King when Im happy and James Joyce when Im depressed. I tried a story I had to write for school and blog post (they got Steven King) and a message I'd sent to someone telling them how crap I was feeling. I knew I'd written that one differently though. Hmmmm.

Just tried myself. I write like Stephen King too. lol

I guess it makes a difference with what you read. I own every single Stephen King book in Hardback. (used to be in his book club) and I own most of his movies. lol Probably about $500 worth of his crap! I didn't realize that until my husband and I added it all up when combining our book collection. lol He was like..."gosh". lol

Makes me think that maybe so many people read Stephen King because they can relate to his writing, because they write similarly? Like it's subconsciously comforting and familiar? I dunno, it's just a thought. A majority of the people I've heard from on my blog have gotten the Stephen King result.

I plugged in a vignette from my Insane Asylum collection, and it said that I wrote like Ian Fleming! Happy Such a compliment, I love him! ^_____^

I was hoping I would get Stephen King, though. Whatever

Hmm, the first try, I put in something I wrote really quickly when I was emotional, and I got Margaret Atwood. The second was a short story and I got Dan Brown. Then, just for fun, I put in an argument I had to submit for economics last semester and received. . David Foster Wallace. (Whom I had to look up, by the way :S) Apparently, I'm quite versatile Happy.

I put in one of my Random Rants, and got David Foster Wallace, who sounds interesting, actually.
For a section of my essay about Franz Kafka's short story, I got Ursulla le Guin, which is pretty good.
And when I put in my Riot Grrrl article it came up with David Foster Wallace again.
