Aspiring Designers?

Hiya! Pretty much all of you know that I want to be a designer when I go out on my own...anyone else here want to, as well?

We could talk about designer-y stuff...and all that jazz (all...that...jaaaaaazz!). So yeah.

I've seen amazing that have books just in photography of inspirational fashion. Just type in fashion into Amazon Books section.

I'd love to become some sort of designer, I've definatly have an un-healthy obsession with clothes and fabric!! I don't know as to how big I'd want to be, which sounds a little wierd. I wouldn't want to be a well known high-end designer type, too much pressure. I wouldn't mind having my own chain of shops with my own branded label of clothing in the high street.

The thing is the only fashion/creative qualification I've got is an Art GCSE. When I went into A-Levels I went into Business, Psychology & Sociology and in my Degree I've gone into Business & Psychology. So I have nothing. I've been thinking about part-time college or short courses when I come out of Uni in the fashion area?

I do kind of regret my degree choice but I can't change it now...

Thinking of going back to school for costume design Happy First I have to get through (and into) music school! Still working away on my sewing though! My favorite medium right now is duct tape though Happy I'm nearly finished making my Lady GaGa inspired dress and if I do say so myself, I pulled it out quite nicely! It's quite a fun medium to work with. And Shelia MOST DEFINITELY would love to see some of your steampunk stuff! That is one of my major style inspirations! What styles do you guys like? What celebrities do you take style ideas from? My style inspirations are steampunk/Victorian fashion, Renaissance/ Medieval, 1950s/Rockabilly, and pinups. My favorite style icons are Lady GaGa (obviously, she has such a daring sense of style!) and Zooey Deschanel (because she has an adorable, vintage feel look). Who or what do you guys like?

Hm...I don't get influenced by celebrities all that much...I love Erte (he was a huge designer in the 20s), and Nick Knight's photography, and random photo shoots from Haute Macabre and Twisted Lamb.

And I have an obscenely long wish list of design and fashion photography books, haha.

Also, I am definitely going to college at F.I.T. (www.fitnyc.edu).

I love Emilie Autumn and her style!! I didn't know she made them! That's super cool!
